I am back once again! Two releases over the span of two weeks, it must be close to Christmas! Especially after such a long hiatus. Originally codenamed "Dystopian", METAMORPHOZYS is a mix that has been sitting in the stash for quite a long time. I always wanted to bring a Synthwave mix to life, but if you know anything about DJ'ing, this genre is perhaps one of the most complicated to mix and blend together. But I like a good challenge, and so this is the result. 

I would like to credit Guillermo Ayala for providing me with the cover picture that brought this all together. I would also like to acknowledge any past and all current influences surrounding my life that have led me to finally make this one right here happen.

Originally a playlist in my library, RETROCADE is a profoundly personal mix that I have decided to bring together given the right circumstances. In its original state I used to play RETROCADE by myself whenever I went to this arcade back in Chicago known for having original vintage machines such as Tron, OutRun, Pac-Man, Centipede, Galaga, Space Invaders, etc. It was a personal tradition that every year on my birthday I would go there and blast these songs in the arcade as I played the games, drowning myself in the embrace of the 1980s, as I awaited for that someone. I went there for the last time on my 19th birthday, and I'm turning 22 next month so it's been a while. Anyhow, my goal with releasing this was not getting down and dirty with my mixing skills, but my ability to pick the right songs one after the other in order to convey a message or tell a story; in this case both. I hope it goes through. I simply needed to bleed my emotions out, and this one came together like magic in just a day. Enjoy.

ʀᴇᴛʀᴏᴄᴀᴅᴇ

I was/am frankly very afraid to release this peculiar piece here. I have debated with myself back and forth about coming forward with this. At first I was all in with releasing it, and then I wasn't. I have never been this vulnerable and emotional with a mix before, and even though I put that and then some into every work of mine, this piece here is very specific, in-your-face, unapologetically me. Released as ZPIKES, made as Ferdinand. The human being. Perhaps it's the damned Alaskan winter during November, but a good friend of mine said that when you're afraid to show something that's when you absolutely have to do it. And so I take the leap. One could say I'm dropping the facade with this. This is for someone, it may never reach them, I hope it does. Until then... See you later.

We have returned. Happy belated 2025. This time I deliver yet another underground release for the ears of the few. Also, YAY! We have finally hit 50 followers! Special thanks to peepzay, my dear friend and brother in arms for becoming a part of that collective, that 50th follower! It's been a long time coming, 5 years in the works. I cherish that progress!

Now... As some may have noticed, the alias has changed. ZPIKES has died along with 2024. Many factors came into play regarding the change of the alias, the brand, so on so forth... Pesky details that are better left for the mystique!

Regarding this piece, SinRock was actually originally meant to be the comeback mix of 2024 after the year long hiatus, but the times weren't quite adjusted to it, as is the music within the mix. Anyhow, life happened, and this piece went into the stash. I continued working on it from time to time, but it didn't quite sit. It was only recently that it came full circle. SinRock stands as a bold statement, an unapologetic ode to the times not only I, but we all live in. The hypersexuality, the indulgence as opposed to the abstinence, the short bursts and the fast life... if you know what I mean. I won't bore you with a long description. SinRock is what it is!

After an entire month... we have returned with yet another release for the underground. Coming together like magic, fire in veins, mind clear and focused, AKABINA was made in a just a few days. This release was delayed due to my recent outburst in the local Fairbanks DJ scene. Having been busy with booking shows and promoting them, this piece went into the stash ready to be released at a moment's noticed. The artist has remained largely underground for most of his career. Accredited with founding the Northernmost alternative scene in the United States with his locally famed underground events known as "Goth Night", the artist managed to create a scene from scratch with nothing but vision and a mad mind for networking. Described as a professional, boundless visionary with an infamous alter-ego known as "The Count", of which very little is known about. The artist has never released any original music, though he has an extensive library spanning half a decade of over 30 carefully crafted DJ mixes. These varied mixes each contain a unique touch, a creative blend, and an artistic edge that make him a very mysterious, yet intriguing and ambitious act to keep a look out for.
