ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying. Beyond Birth. Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace:

ਯਕ ਅਰਜ ਗੁਫਤਮ ਪੇਸਿ ਤੋ ਦਰ ਗੋਸ ਕੁਨ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਤੰੂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ 
I offer this one prayer to You; please listen to it, O Creator Lord.

ਹਕਾ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਰੀਮ ਤੂ ਬੇਐਬ ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਤੋਂ) ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਸਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ । ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ) ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ।੧।
You are true, great, merciful and spotless, O Cherisher Lord. ||1||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਮੁਕਾਮੇ ਫਾਨੀ ਤਹਕੀਕ ਦਿਲ ਦਾਨੀ ॥
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਦਿਲ! ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ 
The world is a transitory place of mortality - know this for certain in your mind.

ਮਮ ਸਰ ਮੂਇ ਅਜਰਾਈਲ ਗਿਰਫਤਹ ਦਿਲ ਹੇਚਿ ਨ ਦਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਦਿਲ! ਤੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ (ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ) ਅਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ ਫੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death, has caught me by the hair on my head, and yet, I do not know it at all in my mind. ||1||Pause||

ਜਨ ਪਿਸਰ ਪਦਰ ਬਿਰਾਦਰਾਂ ਕਸ ਨੇਸ ਦਸਤੰਗੀਰ ॥
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਪਿਉ, (ਸਾਰੇ) ਭਰਾ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
Spouse, children, parents and siblings - none of them will be there to hold your hand.

ਆਖਿਰ ਬਿਅਫਤਮ ਕਸ ਨ ਦਾਰਦ ਚੂੰ ਸਵਦ ਤਕਬੀਰ ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ) ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਡਿੱਗਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੌਤ ਆ ਗਈ), ਜਦੋਂ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੀ ਨਮਾਜ਼ ਪੜ੍ਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਥੇ) ਰੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
And when at last I fall, and the time of my last prayer has come, there shall be no one to rescue me. ||2||

ਸਬ ਰੋਜ ਗਸਤਮ ਦਰ ਹਵਾ ਕਰਦੇਮ ਬਦੀ ਖਿਆਲ ॥
ਸਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਮੈਂ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਮੈਂ ਬਦੀ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ 
Night and day, I wandered around in greed, contemplating evil schemes.

ਗਾਹੇ ਨ ਨੇਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਮ ਮਮ ੲਂੀ ਚਿਨੀ ਅਹਵਾਲ ॥੩॥
ਮੈਂ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਨੇਕੀ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ । (ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ!) ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ ।੩।
I never did good deeds; this is my condition. ||3||

ਬਦਬਖਤ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਬਖੀਲ ਗਾਫਿਲ ਬੇਨਜਰ ਬੇਬਾਕ ॥
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ!) ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਨਿਭਾਗਾ, ਨਿੰਦਕ, ਲਾ-ਪਰਵਾਹ, ਢੀਠ ਤੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ 
I am unfortunate, miserly, negligent, shameless and without the Fear of God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬੁਗੋਯਦ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਰਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਾਕਰਾਂ ਪਾ ਖਾਕ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਪਰ ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮਿਲੇ ।੪।੧।
Says Nanak, I am Your humble servant, the dust of the feet of Your slaves. ||4||1||

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥
Siree Raag, First Mehla, Second House:

ਮੁਕਾਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਚਲਣੈ ਕੀ ਧੋਖ ॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ) ਪੱਕਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਣਾ ਭੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਥੋਂ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ 
They have made this their resting place and they sit at home, but the urge to depart is always there.

ਮੁਕਾਮੁ ਤਾ ਪਰੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਲੋਕ ॥੧॥
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੀ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ) ।੧।
This would be known as a lasting place of rest, only if they were to remain stable and unchanging. ||1||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੈਸਿ ਮੁਕਾਮੇ ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ 
What sort of a resting place is this world?

ਕਰਿ ਸਿਦਕੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਖਰਚੁ ਬਾਧਹੁ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੁ ਨਾਮੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਰਧਾ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਲਈ) ਖ਼ਰਚ (ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੱਲੇ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Doing deeds of faith, pack up the supplies for your journey, and remain committed to the Name. ||1||Pause||
