is a one of a kind, tasteful blend of bass, breathing, birds and full body harmony.

completely self produced, recorded and mixed, this song comes from a very deep, personal and intimate place that exists within my sacred self.

A place that I can sometimes forget to visit...

A place from which all my creations come.

This song is a reminder that that juicy, self loving wholeness is mine to feel. And in releasing this song, I am reclaiming my sovereignty, my pleasure, my power and my voice. Knowing that I need not seek outside of myself to feel this feeling.

I invite you all to take a minute of silence at the end of this song, to think about or even speak out loud what it is that you want to create, receive and experience in your Life right now. What do you desire to welcome into your field?

what you want

"start somewhere" is a sweet and special piece that is, although old, still close to my heart.

I made this project between April and June, when I first started studying  at sae institute in north van.

An endearing and authentic body of work, this demo ep is like a portal into the past. Nostalgic and light-hearted with earnest poetics and soulful melodies. start somewhere is exactly what it sounds like, a landmark, a gateway sitting somewhere near the beginning of my journey into audio engineering and music production.

This is my FIRST multiple-track, self-produced, entirely self engineered project to hit the stream waves... It's been a long time coming but this is still a very exciting moment for me. :)

On the journey of making these songs, I didn't properly save my files while transferring from the school computer onto my hard drive. Sadly, my stems were lost, rendering me unable to properly dial in the mixes of each track. After holding on, and hoarding these songs for long enough, tortured by my inability to "fix" them, I've decided to put them out as is. I've added as much love and attention as I presently can to each track and I hope you can feel it when you're listening...

Allowing myself the space to put out something that I'm not 100% satisfied with is a practice in embracing imperfection and life's constant reminder to allow things to be as they are. I relinquish myself from the clutches of perfectionism and release my inner critic towards details that the average listener will never fixate upon.

It's all about the feeling with this one, so let me know how it lands.

"Don't Have to Wait" is a song I wrote, on and off since last summer. The original rendition is acoustic on guitar and voice. This version is one that we recorded from LumiNation home studio and Avilia took home to play with. I've never hear my voice vocal chopped before and I really enjoy it! More versions to come....

This is an original song that came to me about a week before my performance at the Museum of Anthropology on International Womxn's Day.

With all of the weight of the world tumbling down, it can be hard to keep your head above the Water. I believe in making Space for the Weight. Making Space for the pain and fear that can arise through all of the madness of the Human Experience. I believe in taking that pain and turning it into something beautiful.

So that we may in turn let go of fear and Make Way for Love.

I'm Kaya. I'm a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised on Turtle Island, known as Vancouver, BC. Both classically trained and self-taught, my musical style ranges from folk, RnB to Hip Hop, trap and EDM. 

My aim as an artist is to create honest and real music from the depth of my Human Experience, in hopes that those who need the Reflection will Resonate. I'm basically just another human living life. With every high and low, I do my best to feel into what is there for me to learn and transmute that into Songs to Release stories that may otherwise get stuck.
