We are happy to present the X compilation out today featuring tracks made by a number of techno producers during the lockdown.

The 10-track 'X Compilation' has its origins in the '10x10 Production Challenge', which Rebekah curated in 2020. It saw her set daily creative objectives for producers to work outside of their comfort zones and deliver a finished arrangement each day.

'X Compilation' is made up of music made from that process, with Rebekah contributing a track herself, in addition to cuts by the likes of unperson, Vera Grace, and Tess. Tracks cover a range from dancefloor-focused techno to more experimental electronic music.

A Fireless Camp

This started as a sketch I didn't feel inspired by, so I put it down. Came back a week later and immediately found the groove, each next decision clearly in front of me. Flow state.

Really pretty happy with how it turned out. Wishing the drums punched through a bit more though. Will take some time to dial in that sauce for future tracks.

093 - Surprise, Surprise

Best known for albums like Radio Amor, Ravedeath 1972, Harmony in Ultraviolet, and his most recent project, No Highs, @TimHecker has always been interested in going beyond the superficialities of ambient — preferring to craft music that challenges, confuses, enthralls, and excites. 

His creative process reflects this, often including bleeding channels, feedbacking pieces, pitch shifting, noise, and distortion. His live shows, meanwhile, can be flooded with darkness or cloaked in fog. 

In this conversation, Tim and I discuss his musical philosophy and love of creative and artistic dissonance, and the inherent challenges in making music that isn’t always easy.
