Hailing from Townsville, North Queensland, The Aktavist has been honing his craft for over 5 years and in that time has developed a very deliberate combination of multi-syllabic flow and conceptuality, delivered with the intensity of a man who's fire matches his convictions. He released his debut EP "What It Is" in late 2009 and since then has featured on a slew of mixtapes with both North Queensland artists and interstate. The Aktavist has supported many local and international hip hop artists including Drapht, Phrase, Illy, Mantra, M-Phazes, Bliss N Eso, MuphnPlutonic, Bone Thugz-N-Harmony, Snob Scrilla, Zennith Boys, Resin Dogs and many more. His rhymes are complex at heart and showcase both ability and insight, flipping between blatant descriptions of skill and prowess into deep philosophy in almost seamless transitions, he stays true to the art of poetry whilst honouring the competetive roots of hip hop. Started making music in 06' as an avenue to get my feelings and thoughts out in a way that other people could understand or relate to. A few months later i came to the conclusion that other people can get fucked. Music making and artistry in itself has been gutted of all its glory by hacks who want to fuck with you when its the popular vote and apply they're tongue to your balls when they think they can see the limelight breaking through the clouds of obscurity. I make music for myself and only myself, the fact that i can record it is just a plus. If you feel my shit then you have my love. If you don't dig it then you weren't meant to. Peace.
