Discordance : Lorsque la sédimentation s’interrompt, il y a rupture de continuité entre les couches minérales inférieures et les couches supérieures que la mer redéposera lorsqu’elle sera de retour.
Il peut arriver qu’après la rupture de sédimentation, un phénomène géologique important entraine un basculement des couches. On observera alors ce qu’on appelle une discordance angulaire.
