zé malandro is an entity from afro-brazilian magic. The word malandro means something like hustler in english. He is a spirit from the streets, a gambling, cannabis loving, drunken small time gangster who lived a life of danger, capoiera and freedom in brazilian favelas from the beginning of the last century. He comes in afro brazilian macumba ceremonies to open the path of black people, helping them with his street wisdom.

New Moon Rising

The castle of Alamut in Persia was the place where Hasan-i Sabbâh, the old man from the moutain, proclaimed the event of the resurection in 1164. From now on the only law of conduct was to live outside the law. Thou what thou wilt, as Crowley would say, many centuries later. Outside of the Sharia, the mystical revolutionaries of Alamut turned  life itself into an act of worship , the constant unfolding of a  cosmic renegate poetry. If they all died of brutal death, the insurection of Alamut survived as an hidden password through the ages . The fortress is the secret mystical center of dangerous grooves and forbidden love echoing through centuries. The imaginal flag of a transnational chivalric order made of queers , madmen and witches. 

The sound produced by Alamüt  follows the snake line of  lysergic harmonies, from quawalli singers to amazonian shamans, atabaque played in brazilian favelas to call Exu-Elegua, the path opener. The coldness of western techno mixed with  exotica percussions sampled from ceremonies of the future. The  hedonist pornography of reggaethon and baile funk ,made up genres like jajouka disco and yezidi hardcore.   All of that echoing back from the time when time stopped, when the needle of the turntable dropped into space. Alamut, 8th of August of the year 1164 of the christian calandar. The end of time, the beginning of groove
