Stoked to share my application mix for Bass Coast 2023!

This mix pays homage to the roots of jungle drum and bass, referencing some reggae and dancehall classics. But like culture is constantly evolving, the track selection is fresh, featuring sounds and styles growing in new directions. Reggae artists sampled include Barrington Levy, Bob Marley and Althea & Donna, with hot new productions from the likes of Bou, Lens and L-Side. In the second half, be prepared to venture out on a limb to experience the new sounds of grime jungle from the likes of Mozey, Trigga and Serum.

2020 certainly has been a test for us all. An overwhelming amount of negativity from every conceivable direction has left us spent. The shining beacon of joy for many of us, music, dancing and spiritual communion, has been stripped from us and we've watched our thriving industry collapse. I don't have the answers, i don't know where it's all going. What i DO know, is that the power of music still holds me and keeps me (somewhat) sane in these dark times. It is my lifeboat. And so i present to you, a teeny tiny life preserver that, if you let it, will spark joy and help keep your emotions afloat. This is my new mix series, NO SPEED LIMIT. The art of DJing is a very special one, and an art rapidly being lost in this disposable world meant for immediate consumption. I've always treated DJing as sonic storytelling, a way to communicate things we cannot say but all feel. The appeal of a rave for me is the communion that takes place between DJ and ravers, a synergistic feedback loop that sends an elevated, excited signal and receives structured yet free movement in response. Without one there is no other, a yin requires it's yang. 
But for nearly a year now we have been missing this communion, and desperately missing the stories of our co-creation. And so I was inspired to create a dance floor story, reminiscent of times we've gathered with reckless abandon to spin ourselves joyful, with a wink and a nod to the nostalgia for the raving of my youth. I hope you all can hear the story and feel inspired to move with joy, and experience a moment of self indulgent bliss...
