Le prestigieux magazine britannique i-D parle de We Love Green en ces termes : l’événement parisien qui montre comment les Français sont très bons pour organiser des festivals. Et c’est vrai qu’il est difficile de résister à l’attrait de We Love Green qui se tiendra cette année du 31 mai au 2 juin, toujours dans le Bois de Vincennes. Déjà parce qu’il porte au cœur de son projet la question de son impact environnemental. 
L’année dernière, le festival est devenu entièrement végétarien, parvenant à réduire encore sensiblement son bilan carbone. Mais si on se presse dans le Bois de Vincennes tous les ans c’est bien sûr pour profiter de cette programmation irrésistible qui mêle grandes sensations internationales et nouvelles tendances.
Burna Boy, Ninho, Josman, SZA, Luidji. Mais aussi Peggy Gou, Kaytranada, qui sortira un nouvel album le 7 juin, Justice, Four Tet, L’impératrice, Eddy de Pretto, ou encore badbadnotgood, Kabeaushé et AMS, la jeune Parisienne de la scène house qui monte, et que nous avions déjà reçue aux platines à Tsugi Radio. C’est votre programme tout de suite sur Tsugi Radio, AMS pour un DJ set avec plein d’exclusivités, et de clins d’oeil appuyés à la scène house française. Un chouette mix concocté rien que pour nous. Juste le temps de vous rappeler que We Love Green c’est du 31 mai au 2 juin dans le Bois de Vincennes à Paris…

EPM Podcast 177 comes from Quenum. A lover of music in all its forms, Quenum has an established 30-year career and has gained the respect of techno pioneers as well as the following of the younger generation. From his work as part of Access 58 in the late 90s to setting up Cadenza Records with Luciano in 2001, Quenum has gone on to release on the likes of Transmat, Crosstown Rebels, Cocoon, Fabric and Get Physical. Here for the EPM Podcast he brings his years of techno know how together for a restrained minimal mix that features the likes of Helmut Dubnitzky & Jackspot, Vin Sol & Matrixxman, Paul Woolford, Detroit Grand PuBahs, Damien Almira, D.A.V.E. the Drummer, Ed Davenport and more.

When Quenum settled in London in the 90s he started working with Paulo Nascimento, a studio musician and sound engineer. In 1997 they released their first EP on Pacific Records - that is how Access 58 was born. They performed live and played DJ gigs at all the legendary London clubs, such as The End and the Velvet Rooms, for Carl Cox’s Ultimate Base nights. Access 58 collaborated with major artists of the 90s, such as The Advent and Umek and released over 30 EPs on various labels including their own (also called Access 58). 

In 2001 Quenum moved to Switzerland, where he soon met another talented artist with whom he would make history, Luciano. Together, in Luciano’s studio in the Swiss mountains, they composed “Orange Mistake” – recognized as one of the anthems of techno music. But when they approached various labels to release it, no one was interested. That’s how they started their own label, Cadenza. Soon after Luciano moved to Berlin, becoming the label’s boss. From his base in Geneva, QUENUM continued playing all the big clubs in the US and Europe – especially with Cadenza in Panorama Bar where they invited Apollonia, Thomas Melchior, Loco Dice – riding the wave of interest that “Orange Mistake” generated. 

In the next decade he continued producing groovy techno released on all the top labels (incl. Transmat, Crosstown Rebels, Cocoon, Fabric, Get Physical) and playing clubs all over the world. His love for the groove was nurtured in his music-filled Afro-Caribbean home. 

Now you will find QUENUM playing all over the world. From 2013 to 2019 Quenum worked in partnership with Cesare vs Disorder. Together as Azimute they toured Asia, Australia and South America. They released Azimute on Serialism and ran their label nights in Brazil, London and Berlin. 

QUENUM is known as one of the friendliest faces in techno, which explains why he loves collaborating with his brothers-and-sisters-in-arms. For QUENUM, each collaboration is an opportunity to learn and share his passion with friends. His latest collaboration ‘My Definition of Groove’ features Detroit Grand PuBah Paris The Black Fu and is out now on Engineroom.
