"Jamming w/ Jazz Bass" (Edit: Mastered in iZotope Ozone on January 13th, 2025.)

A little excercise that I finished today. I made this track originally some time ago playing a VST bass, but after I finally got a Jazz Bass recently I wanted to try to play and record something with it, and here we go! 

Played by me using sounds from different VST instrument collections (Rhodes V8 Pro electric piano, Native Instruments Komplete Now collection & Abbey Road 1980s Drums, UVI SonicPass collection). The bass was played by me with a Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass (Cobra Blue). 

Sorry about the mistakes with the bass.. But after I sold my beautiful G&L Interceptor bass guitar in the late 1990's it has now been maybe 25 years since I played bass the last time, and I'm practicing:) 

Especially playing with the correct timing and with right & consistent velocities was really challenging. I also actually played the bass line maybe too loud, so had to do some EQ'ing and stuff afterwards.

A few days late on this chapter...almost all of last week's music time allocation went into finishing up the mix for my upcoming Bricolage Records full-length album, 'The Astronaut's Last Polaroid', releasing this November. 

I use a complete hybrid of organic & electronic sounds within the scope of the Taffeta project. Nothing is out of the question and no limits are set on how things may evolve one way or another.

Big thanks to the talanted Nina Moody for letting me turn her vocals into a song.
The music almost wrote itself, but mixing and mastering the vocals took me a lot of time. It's a great experience and I've learned a lot. Although I'm not entirely sure if this is deep house, it was my inspiration, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Notes
This song has a couple of purposeful elements of The Golden Ratio. 161 bpm closely represents the 1.618 extension
Also the percussion when looked at on a piano roll makes a Golden Ratio curve looped every 4 bars. Schweeeeet

The tuning is 432Hz so we have access to all the solfeggio frequencies. For this one I used B minor rooted in 963Hz, The Crown Chakra. We change to A major for the second half of each phrase the chord now rooted in 852Hz, The 3rd Eye Chakra.

So, I didn't think of this...train of thinking... I don't pertain to understand any of it... But many great humans say they do and can come across as pretty convinced...

So here's another nugget towards the mission of making proper music with this in mind and sung from the heart and sure I might learn it then too.

Also, in the picture is a little Lazy Susan I made from a pallet that was about to be thrown out. Thinking of the tree... It could be rotting in a landfill now but it's memory lives on...

maybe you don't need to understand it...but you can still project it 🧘🏻

Thinking further about The Golden Ratio

Comparing it to this ♾️ The track of infinity. A golden ratio curve takes us towards the infinitely small. A singularity. Is it represented in a black hole then I wonder.... I guess it is and this is represented in the symmetry we find emanating from it as a whole Galaxy.... I smell a cool tune 🧘🏻
