I feel like I can truly be my funky, freaky self at DISTRIKT. The camp and the crowd are so incredibly positive, encouraging and supportive. During this set I remember feeling that energy with every drop, with every mix. That kind of vibe is infectious and allows you to take risks, to push things. We all just wanted to have a good time, didn't we? I'm glad the set was recorded, and I hope you like it! ~Hoj

Hoj - DISTRIKT Sound - Burning Man 2022

It's Tuesday night, we enter Burning Man a day late due to the rain. It's my first burn, and Sarah my girlfriend, it's her third. With little time to settle at our camp, we can't set up our newly purchased bikes. So we venture out in search of Robot Heart by foot. Arriving onto the playa for the first time at night is incredibly intense, the place is so vast. The lights, sounds and atmosphere is other worldly. It's distracting, let alone the fact we need to somehow find Robot Heart by foot in amongst all of this brilliant and mesmerising noise. We start walking in any direction, Sarah being an experienced burner knew full well the bus could be out deep in the desert far away. We ask people if they have seen it. Mixed answers get us nowhere. Scanning the horizon for anything that resembles a heart. So many things look similar. Somehow my eyesight pays off and the saving grace was the giant Robot held up high. Finally arriving and panic over we run straight into Phillipp from M.A.N.D.Y. With some time to spare before I play he asks us if we want to go for a quick cruise around to explore. With the obvious lack of our bikes he purposefully and very quickly introduces us to Benjamin and the crew from Robot Heart, who throw us both on the bus immediately. To our surprise the bus suddenly starts driving away. Everyone follows. An amazing experience as we watch thousands of bikes, lights and art cars slowly following the bus. It was like the bus was leaking - spewing out these bikes, lights and art cars all over the desert floor, leaving this incredible trail behind itself.
A good 30 minutes pass, the bus and gathered crowd is settled and in its final place for the night. I begin to play - my first gig at Burning Man, my first time on Robot Heart, all on my first night at BM in this crazy desert. All brilliantly overwhelming. Even after everything though, I am completely relaxed. It's a setting and experience I'll never forget. Playing and looking out over everything down below. You could take a picture of what you see in front of you and look at all of the different things for hours. But this was real life and in motion, always changing, so much to take in. By far one of the most enjoyable moments of my life. Which was topped only by mine and Sarah's fun wedding ceremony we had later that week in front of the Temple. The picture is our first kiss as newly weds!

Thank you Robot Heart and Burning Man! I definitely hope I can return to the Bus and the playa every year now!

Tim Green - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2014

I was thinking about all the long waits in line for Burning Man tickets over the years and decided to give some of you something to listen to while the walking person icon slowly makes its way across the screen holding all our hopes in its little tiny pixel hands. 

The wait time  is usually about as long as it took to get from one side of the playa to the other last year after it rained and the playa shrimp rose up to attempt to take over the world!! 

Burning Mud. Mudding man. Raining man. Remember the wild stories (all from the outside media or Diplo and Chris Rock) vs the kindness and generosity of strangers out on the playa. I hope, even if faced with adversity last year, maybe, just maybe, you also saw how wonderful people can be when called upon in a ‘crisis’. 

I was lucky enough to stay until Tuesday night and grateful to still get to play a sunrise on the Robot Heart albeit a few days later than planned. There was so much love in the air that (finally) beautiful morning. If you missed it or want to listen once more or are just bored and looking for something to distract you while waiting in line for this years tickets (I’ll be waiting too) then here’s burning man/mud/magic 2023.  Feel the love in the air and the tickle of playa shrimp on the soles of your feet.

For pretty much the whole year I’m either headed towards or away from Burning Man. 

Each year out there there’s this moment in space and time where I feel perfectly balanced between the two. It’s a moment where time stands still, just for a second. 

That moment is when the first ember of the day’s sun peaks over the mountain top to begin its journey once more. 

I try to find a piece of music to express the feeling of stillness and presence I get.  This year the sun was kind enough to arrive 1 hour 28 minutes and 40 seconds into this mix. I was in awe. I’m still in awe.

Some of the magic of the playa for me is where the nature blends with boundless creativity. Where love meets wonder and we get to laugh, dance and play. Add a dash of music for good measure and, for a moment, that magic catches its breath to take it all in, and stands still.

2024 was one of my favorite years ever. Thank you to all you artists and lovers, cooks and cuddlers. To all those who toil for months before and after to make it happen and to anyone who gave anything to another. You’re all amazing. I’m currently headed back towards (or is it away from) that moment once more.

Prepare for a magical and mystical journey full of some hard hitting deep house and tech house gems. Playing with my crazy pals at the Celtic Chaos camp always proves to be an outrageous and amazing experience. This is the second time after playing at their castle in 2015 and to follow up for this year I had to keep the theme of playing some of my harder and darker tunes!

I like to imagine sometimes where the music will travel to. Who it will be given to or shared with. Whether it will be played at an after party in London or listened to on a set of headphones while watching the sun rise from behind a mountain in Tibet. I wonder which tracks you'll fall in love with instantly and which will grow on you as time passes. 

I know this is a really long mix and the journey into it and out the other side takes some commitment but, on the plus side, it saves you having to look for anything else to play for ages and ages.

 I hope you love the tracks as much as I do and thanks for listening.

Lee Burridge - Requiem For A Daydream

"2018 at BM was only my second burn and after my first (4 years prior) I did not think it could get any better… But this year somehow was 100 times better! I think this was due to camping with the amazing Pink Mammoth crew and family. Arriving there a few days early to help set up was incredible to acclimatise and hang out. So many people at PM are already close friends, but this year I met loads of new people who, I can now call family. 

At my first BM I also played at PM, although none of us can work out how I ended up playing there specifically haha! We think Derek knew I was coming and asked if I would like to play. Thankfully he did, because I instantly fell in love with the camp and playing there. Four years on, (and playing many times for PM at their events) it felt like coming home. Its so satisfying playing somewhere where you feel completely relaxed to play what you want to play, in a perfect environment.  

This set also was made extra special by an amazing (pre planned) marriage proposal mid set between Harrison and Felicity. Harrison had told me a couple days prior that my song “In Love” was one of his and Felicity's favourite songs that they shared together. He wanted to propose and asked if I could play the song for them whilst he did so. I of course was completely honoured so myself and Harrison arranged that I would play it mid set, about an hour in and would give him a nod to signal it. With his broken ankle (he’d broken it just a day prior!), they both climbed up onto the speaker, and to Felicity’s surprise, just as “In Love” started to come in, he proposed in front of the whole crowd! Of course she said yes ;)

So you’ll hear in this mix the volume dip at the start of “In Love”, which is a lovely memento forever recorded in this mix! Hope you all enjoy! Tim.”
