On Saturday 2018.06.30, the Salafī community in Toronto had the pleasure of conducting their first lecture link with Shaykh Muḥammad Ghālib al-ʿUmarī (Dubai, UAE). The lecture, translated by Ustādh Abū Idrīs (Birmingham, England), laid out a roadmap for the potential student of knowledge; the traits that exemplify the upright moral character that is requisite of such a noble pursuit.

From the beacons upon the path for the student of knowledge

have taqwā (fear) of Allāh
taqwá is only built upon ʿilm (knowledge)
carry out the commands of Allāh
stay away from the prohibitions of Allāh
the Qurʾān and Sunnah are filled with admonitions towards taqwá
taqwá is from the means of getting to paradise
actions are accepted based on two conditions: ikhlās (إخلاص) wa-al-mutābʿāh (متابعة), sincerity upon the way of the Messenger (ﷺ)
the believers are upon different levels in sincerity and piety
cling to the guidance of the Salaf, at the head of them, the Companions of the Messenger (ﷺ), whoever opposes them will go to destruction
be far removed from the people of innovation and desires, for innovation corrupts and destroys
stay away from ḥizbiyyah (party spirt)
be patient upon the truth even if you are few in number
the blessings of Allāh are innumerable

A very beneficial reminder and encouragement by our brother Anwar Wright to the youth to choose a better lifestyle, as the street life and a life lead by desires may lead to the Fire. 

We are encouraged to choose a life of knowledge, nobility, and one that may have continuous reward in sha Allah. This is the life worth aspiring for.

A life of honor and prestige is attained through seeking knowledge, while the Street Life leads to prison or the grave.
