DRUM002 | Kyiv artists on Albert van Abbe's DRUM label.

Van Abbe performed his NONDUAL Live A/V at the newly opened concert hall of Club ∄ 'K41' back in October 2020. NONDUAL was presented as an exhibition & series of live concerts. They featured a string of talented artists from Kyiv, some of them residents of Club ∄. DRUM002 (digital + limited tapes) features a set of ambient / experimental techno tunes by Nastya Vogan, Burning Woman, Gael & Zauber, Zavoloka and ϙue. They function perfectly during early (or late) hours in the club, or enjoy them during your soothing headphone commutes. The NONDUAL album is out now on Raster.

DifferentSound invites Albert van Abbe / Podcast #269

It is Monday the 16th of February 2015 and we have Albert van Abbe back on the podcast, this time with a LIVE performance, which he recorded last July in Berlin. The set consists exclusively of original productions, mostly unreleased material, all arrangements and dubs were done on the fly and he did most of the sound-design himself as well. Albert is one of the very few Dutch Techno live acts, having performed Berghain, Awakenings & ADE just to name a few. For 2015 he is working on a brand-new audio-visual live performance entitled NDEBELE, which he will present at the STRP Biennial in his hometown Eindhoven as the after-show for Underworld's “Dubnobasswithmyheadman” concert on March 27th. Multi-dimensional creative and creative director at Dekmantel, Albert van Abbe has been a significant presence in the audio-visual sphere for over two decades, producing everything from minimalistic soundscapes to hardcore acid tracks. 

His music often blends melancholic and uplifting elements, creating an emotionally complex listening experience. Van Abbe is also known for his innovative live performances and is actively involved in experimenting with new formats for live music. He has collaborated with the likes of Byetone and Speedy J and has releases on Raster and Avian.

Van Abbe is back with No Comment presenting 2 originals, a monologue from Guy Tavares (Bunker Records)+ an Evigt Mörker Remix.

What did you feel the first time you were stargazing? Standing alone in a dark backyard with your neck bent and the light from a thousand distant suns glittering in your bright eyes. Did the overwhelming sensation of your own triviality descend upon your young soul like a Dementor from Azkaban? Or did an unprecedented yearning breach every fibre of your being, compelling you to break free from the shackles binding you to the very ground? If you’re in the latter category, this music is constructed especially for you. It’s a spaceship built from wooden barrels and rusty metal crates, pinned together with a multitude of crooked nails. But it works. It really does. You just have to make your mind broad enough to fit your clumsy terrestrial body in the spacecraft. The booming engines and the melodic bleeps from the control panel will do the rest. Soon enough you’ll find yourself surrounded by the very stars you used to gaze upon as a child.
