Catz 'N Dogz add another star to their Step Recordings' roster,
introducing the latest EP from the legendary Lady Blacktronika.

After dropping EPs from the likes of Ruff Stuff and Metropolitan Soul
Museum in early 2021, Catz 'N Dogz and their Step Recordings are back
with a bang. Their next EP comes from Sound Black Recordings and Dark
Carousel's head and Skylax' contributor Lady Blacktronika.

The US DJ and producer (now based in Berlin and originally discovered
by legendary Mike Huckaby) has
put together 4 huge club cuts for an unforgiving and unforgettable
collection. 'Overdose' EP is a mixture of straight 4/4 House grooves
and techno melodies, hypnotic voice samples and deep bass
lines & moody synths. It's a statement of class and uncompromised
sonic research. It's what we need.

House music veteran Junior Sanchez makes a long-awaited debut on Crosstown Rebels this May with the Divergent EP. The four-track release sees Junior team up with fellow world-renowned house producer Todd Terry on the lead record.

Live Forever leads the charge. It’s a symbolic collaboration that sees the legendary Todd Terry provide all vocals on the track: “I was in the studio with Todd in Ibiza. He heard it and liked it, so I was just joking and said sing something on this. He laid some ideas down... and boom: you got a track with Todd Terry on lead vocals.”

After Love comes next. It’s a truly euphoric offering, as upbeat piano rolls blend into shimmering kick-hat combos. Junior sums it up best: “This track is all about the feeling of the sun and the pure energy of happiness.”

My Mind Goes takes on a more rugged edge. Drawing “inspiration from an ‘80s new wave band”, reverberating vocals create a hypnotic feel throughout, whilst four-four drum patterns march on in the background.

Body Heat rounds off proceedings. “Inspired by the likes of New Order and Jimmy Sommerville”, thick bass drums accompany tough snare solos to create an “early ‘90s vibe” that sounds ripe for the late-night hours.

Junior Sanchez is a staple artist in the global electronic music scene. He is responsible for several iconic house records of the late ‘90s and early 2000s, most notably Back made with Roger Sanchez and DJ Sneak under their S-Men alias. The American veteran continues to showcase his talents both behind the decks and in the studio, having headlined Ultra Music festival in 2019 as well as recently launching the KULTUR label and event series alongside Canadian-mainstay Demuir.

Originally released on Josh Butler’s Origins imprint in 2020, Piem & ANNNA’s ‘19’ is now given a full outing on DFTD with new remixes from Josh Butler and Payfone. An irresistible slow burner, Piem’s laid-back production aesthetic paired with ANNNA’s sultry vocal made for a dreamy collaboration. Payfone’s remix is an altogether funkier affair, with playful guitar riffs and a pulled back tempo, while Josh Butler readies ‘19’ for main room raving with a rumbling bassline destined for the mightiest of soundsystems.

Get plugged in: Cool Ranch compadre Chrissy makes his debut on Pets with two high voltage disco-zapped originals and two powerful remixes from Vonda7 and The Carry Nation.

'So Electrifying' sets the charge. A straight-up Chi-town jacking loop with funk oozing in and out of every booming kick, filtered with finesse, it gradually builds up to a belting all-out vocal hook that will electrify any dance with 1.21 gigawatts of disco power.

It's followed by 'Aww Baby'. Equally juicy in its groove appeal thanks to its alluring piano hook, voluptuous P-funk-style bassline and those big early 90s synths surging up and up towards the glitterball, it's another notch in the bedpost of one of US house music's most genuine and positive rising stars. And it's backed with two superb remixes as Vonda7 strips the vibe of 'So Electrifying' back to more of a heads-down filtered house style but with an added euphoric twist mid-way, while The Carry Nation bring the EP back to US for final slow n' low sizzle. Some say 'Aww Baby', we prefer to say awesome.
