Albion Collective returns with a slick, boundary-pushing vinyl EP from Bristol’s own ØZ. This three-tracker, following on from Yoofee’s debut in 2021, continues to explore the vibrant, colourful and truly imaginative textures of 140 whilst staying true to the bass-driven ethos at the label’s core.

Opening up the EP, ØZ gives the people what they want. Within 16 bars ‘Namib’ is squelching, writhing and undulating in all the set-igniting ways an A-side should. Deep low- end, pristine sound design and a second drop fit for the steppas, ‘Namib’ is what we came
here for. ‘Plasticity’ is why we stay, as it dives headfirst from the dark mystique and wonder of a Guillermo del Toro fairy-tale and into a glitched-out maelstrom sparking with electrified sub-knocks and eyebrow-searing white noise. While the A-side gets darker, the B-side gets funkier with ‘Dawn’, unleashing slick keys and a mean trumpet solo over funky licks and ghetto basslines.

Albion Collective is proud to return with their first release in over a year, welcoming ØZ to the label as a brand-new signee with a wholly unique take on 140.

Albion Collective’s new dance-driven catalogue, Gold, opens its doors to a neck-snapping three-track EP limited to a vinyl-only edition of 100 from a brand-new name in dubstep, Adel Force. The name may be brand-new, but you’ve heard the Estonian producer’s celebrated talents across countless labels, soundsystems and DJ sets under the 15-year-strong moniker Bisweed. Now ready to metamorphose into the next phase of his artistic journey, Adel Force brings you the Twirl EP on Albion Gold.

Dropping the needle onto each Albion Collective release reveals a labyrinth of unique, experimental dubstep styles lauded for both their success in DJ sets and original sonic visions. Holding these pillars of pioneering creativity close to its heart, the new branch of Albion Collective intensifies its focus on moving people. No song could better exemplify the Gold catalogue’s dancefloor-igniting mission statement than Adel Force’s full-throttle opening track, Is This What You Want.

The Twirl EP vinyl, like all of the Gold releases to follow, is hand-stamped, numbered, and features a gold embossed logo. Following the DIY, hand-painted aesthetic, splashes of gold make each sleeve as distinct and unique as the music it cloaks. Albion Collective are proud to work with Adel Force on their debut release and bring you Twirl, the first EP of the Gold catalogue.

Jungle Rootz debuts on Albion Collective with his Catharsis EP. Built to shake foundations, it becomes the second instalment of the Albion Gold series and will be available on an extremely limited vinyl run as well as digitally. In keeping with the hand-crafted Albion Gold ethos, each of the 100 records will be hand-painted, numbered, stamped and gold embossed.
All three tracks deliver their weight in gold, but Pigment’s relentless evolution certifies its A-side status. The rolling wave of plasmic pressure lifts further into the petrol-soaked sky with each pulse.
Title track, Catharsis, opens up the B-side with a body-shoving, eyebrow-snarling bassline layered with this EP’s trademark plasmic energy that unleashes melodies as well as it does murkage.
Finally, like the ghosts who wander from the mist of Japan’s mountains, Yurei gains its power from the intangible negative space it creates. Effortlessly stripped-back, Jungle Rootz breaks all expectations with the age-old adage, less is more.

Ryan Wild aka Jack Sparrow, a Deep Medi Musik signee and one half of dubstep extraordinaire duo Author, has granted the scene with his tenacity to build profoundly stunning electronic music. Wild has the tempo notched up for his In Pieces edit but remains true to Vaun and Jafu's approach in the sense of its lavish spatial touch. The atmospherics breeze over with a soft vibrancy, as the electronic guitar solo recording from the original plays over the initial main section charmingly. This is all resulting in a simply sumptuous mix which goes right up there with his top drawer remix work for Annie Drury and De Niro & Y.

Albion Collective's first record release of 2019 celebrates the return of @Reso to the dubstep arena, with his four track 'Focus inwards EP', featuring a version from @TMSV.

Reso's title track Focus Inwards lures your senses in to a hypnotic state. A hollow, pulsing bass tears through the low end whilst sparkling drums and percussion punctuate a vivid and diverse rhythm, a soundtrack to an outer body experience. Immaculate production.

TMSV lifts the pace with his progressive tribal edit. The addition of woodwind and rolling percussion dance around the acid-step vibe in keeping in vibe with Reso's trip-out OG. Festival music.

The flip opens up hard with Smashed Up. Obnoxious dancefloor-dubstep to be played at high volume. Heavy rolling subs, whips and spirals. Bone-fide club banger.

Off-beat bass track The Essence closes the EP.  An experimental electronica centric from the artist. Dark, battleground theatrics. Certified system breaker.

Lord Jabu synthesises solid-state trap with 64-bit dream-ware in his crystalline 3-track release, ‘Yagoda’.

Traces – Adapt // Renshi [ALBION008]

10" vinyl release with digital of only 'Adapt' available one month after the vinyl is released. Renshi is vinyl only.

@tracesuk have carved out sub-heavy pressure deep within the grooves of their Albion Collective debut. Submerged in mystical koto-strings and underworld 808s, ‘Adapt’ and ‘Renshi’ evolve from the origins of dubstep.

The A-side, ‘Adapt’, respectfully lights each candle of the soundsystem church before rolling through deep and minimal; pin-drop metallic ambience echoes across misty roots.

All-of-a-sudden drum fills and on-the-nail percussion riddle a koto-driven landscape in ‘Renshi’. Razor-sharp drums and cascading bass highlights the B-side’s martial art movements.

Honouring their label debut, Traces release two forward-thinking tracks, smothered in sub-pressure on Albion Collective.

‘I Don’t Know What That Means’ grinds the earth to a halt. Silence suffocated by sub-bass effervesces with ghetto sirens, otherworldly electronic languages and London’s post-apocalyptic soundsystem underground.

‘Oscillator’ wobbles, ritualistic in its Far-Eastern, off-kilter melodies and occult lyricism. Tribal, patient steps and expansive world-percussion draws the dancefloor together on a higher plain. 

The pre-eminent AxH joins LSN on the EP’s flipside, pouring grit into the bio-mechanic mixer of ‘Gone For Never’. Distant cybertronic growls stretch deep into heavyweight caverns. This collaboration hits as hard as it progresses, sure-fire for deep-rolling nights and drop-after-drop sessions.

Picking up the pace, ‘Rubberhands’ unveils neon tendrils and a slimy neurofunk appetite. The ready-to-rave half-time drumbeat and gun-finger-raising bleeps coincide with rough twists-and-turns into teeth-gritting mosh pits.

Albion Collective has established itself as a forefront 140 imprint over just nine releases. LSN and AxH round off the label’s formative years in style, before it plunges deep into double digits with ALBION010.

Low frequency mastermind, @zygos, makes his Albion Collective debut alongside returning roots commander, @dubbing-sun-soundsystem. Teffa pioneers uncharted 140 dungeons in his triple-hitting ‘Toastin’ EP, marking his Albion Collective debut.

Title track, ‘Toastin’, rallies a submersive procession through contemporary dubstep, adorned with golden-age echoes and diamond-edge percussion. Descending into the B-side’s oubliette, ‘Luna’ barks, skanks and growls around subterranean temple walls, where dubbed-out lights and spacious textures emancipate the dance. ‘Gelato’ draws it all back, stalwart sub-bass leading heads down while strict kick-and-snare combos strengthen the sway.

Rarely retracing his steps, architect Teffa builds new tapestries into each vinyl revolution, evolving the vibe across every slice of his debut ‘Toastin’ EP on Albion Collective. Regarding second drops… good things come to those who wait.

@Yoofee defines his own laws in dubstep in his Albion Collective debut. Off-kilter rhythms, spring-loaded progressions and intelligent basslines characterise the Berlin-based jazz musician’s electronic output.

‘Seek & Move’ cracks its whip across the A-side, rolling head-first over a hot-footed bassline into drunken fills that reinvigorate the slick & steady tempo. Chased through Uematsu-esque backstreets, the cinematic ‘Jankar’ spirals along hair-raising strings, wall-crawling arpeggios and Berlin’s deep, rumbling sub. Yoofee’s jazz heritage enhances the oldschool tones of ‘Make You Believe’, its summer-sun piano riff coaxing dancefloor memories from behind locked doors.

Submersed in a heady atmosphere of synapse-sparking percussion and against-the-grain rhythm sections, Yoofee carves new, enigmatic roads into 140 for his Albion Collective debut.
