Ave Maria - Latin motet for Choir SATB

A few days ago, while I was reading some writings about astronomy, I "met" a globular cluster called "47 Tucanae (NGC 104)". It is about 16,000 light years from us and measures 120 light years in diameter. In this cluster there are 25 pulsars, 15 of which are binary systems. These are stars much smaller than our sun, they perform in 1 second from 125 to 650 rotations on themselves; I listened to their sounds singly but also together ... an ensemble of Pulsar, a truly beautiful experience, a music that resounds from around 12 Gyr (1 Gyr = 10 ^ 9 years), this is the estimated age of 47 Tucanae. This music was and is certainly in continuous evolution, not perceptible for us, our life, in terms of time, is like a rotation of one of those Pulsar: a few milliseconds ... Musically, how will it evolve? I can not answer, nobody can, what remains is the present, what is given to us and that comes to us after 16,000 years. In this piece, the Pulsar sounds in a their evolutionary moment meet our dimension: nothing more than an "interference" of a few minutes, continuing in their evolution diluted in eternity ...

Qualche giorno fa, mentre leggevo alcuni scritti riguardanti l'astronomia, ho "incontrato" un ammasso globulare chiamato "47 Tucanae (NGC 104)". Da noi dista circa 16.000 anni luce e misura 120 anni luce di diametro. In questo ammasso ci sono 25 pulsars 15 delle quali sono dei sistemi binari. Si tratta di stelle molto più piccole del nostro sole, esse compiono in 1 secondo dalle 125 alle 650 rotazioni su se stesse; ho ascoltato i loro suoni singolarmente ma anche insieme.. un ensemble di Pulsar, una esperienza veramente bella, una musica che risuona da circa 12 Gyr (1 Gyr = 10^9 anni), questa è l'età stimata di 47 Tucanae. Questa musica è stata ed è certamente in continua evoluzione, non percettibile per noi, la nostra vita è come una rotazione di una di quelle Pulsar: qualche millisecondo... Musicalmente come evolverà? Non posso rispondere, nessuno lo può, quello che rimane è il presente, ciò che ci è dato e che giunge a noi dopo 16.000 anni. In questo brano i suoni delle Pulsar in un loro istante evolutivo incontrano la nostra dimensione: niente più che una "interferenza" di pochi minuti, proseguendo nella loro evoluzione diluita nell'eternità...

47 TUCANAE - for Pulsar Ensemble and Organ

I share with you my personal interpretation of a piano piece (among my favorites) of Gyorgy Ligeti. This is the second piece of a collection of eleven. You could say many things about this masterpiece, I think this music is able to illuminate ancestral realities hidden in the folds of the soul. This, Simha Arom describes very well when, speaking of primitive music, he wrote: "I felt that their music came from the farthest past, but also, in some ways, from my deepest self."


Condivido con voi una mia personalissima interpretazione di un brano per pianoforte (tra i miei preferiti in assoluto) di Gyorgy Ligeti. Si tratta del secondo brano di una raccolta di undici. Si potrebbero dire molte cose su questo capolavoro, penso che questa musica riesca a illuminare realtà ancestrali nascoste nelle pieghe dell'animo. Descrive molto bene, questo, Simha Arom quando, parlando della musica primitiva, scriveva: " Sentivo che la loro musica veniva dal passato più lontano, ma anche, per certi versi, dal mio io più profondo.
