This is a radio documentary I hosted in 2000 when we were promoting The Loft compilations David and I produced for Nuphonic. It features interviews with David, Alex Rosner and Francois K and of course, some great Loft classics. The doc was broadcast on XFM and was produced by my friend Chris Menist. I am somewhat embarrassed by my old presenting style (LOL!) but hey it was twenty years ago and I hope I have progressed since then ;). In any case, it's wonderful to hear David's voice and his own words and I hope you will enjoy this as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Loft. Love Saves the Day! Larry Heard (born 1960) is a musician widely known for the Chicago house music he produced in the mid-1980s and continues to produce today. He was a member of the influential group Fingers, Inc. and has recorded solo under various names, most notably Mr. Fingers. His smooth production style with soulful vocals and long instrumental passages that de-emphasized percussion spearheaded the subgenre known as deep house. One of his first releases was a collaboration with singer Robert Owens, released under the group name ‘Fingers Inc.’. The song ‘Mystery of Love’ instantly became a classic hit, rising to #10 on the Billboard Dance charts. Larry Heard's musical influence can be heard in the songs of countless artists. For those who appreciate warm and passionate compositions, Larry's music is pure magic. He has been blessed with a unique gift that sends listeners into a blissful euphoric state.
