Oooooooooooh it's good to be back at this again.  This soundscape theme was given to me by my good friend Ray Yure.  Ray gave me the ocean drum to use in my 'Driving Slea Head' soundscape and I wanted to do this one for him.  I got to use the drum in this one too!  It was a bit of a challenge as I've only driven through the Appalachian mountains and never really experienced them.  But Ray told me about his experiences hiking and camping near the 'Little Devil Stairs' and talked to me about streams and waterfalls there.  Then, he said the word petrichor which is a word I'd never heard before.  It's basically the smell of rain that accompanies warm dry weather...and then yeah I kind of went from there!  So here's a little story to get you through this soundscape and what my thought process was.  Enjoy!



Imagine you've been camping slightly off of the Little Devil's trail.  It's early morning and you've slept through the rain all night....you hear the wind blowing against the tent, then you notice the birds singing outside as you get out of your sleeping bag.  You unzip your tent to discover you're next to a waterfall and you stretch to finally awaken to the melody of the mountains.  As you move further from the waterfall, you can finally hear your feet on the ground, the trees talking in the distance...and then you reach the peak of the mountain, overlooking the Shenandoah valley and all of its majesty.

'Camping Appalachian Trail'

Hey guys!  I'm sorry that it's taken me a while to upload this track that we finished.  I was waiting for a photo for this one, but then I just ended up going with this one.  Sorry!!

So for this track I had a very specific setting in mind.  We had a huge heatwave a few weeks ago and I decided to go up to Clare to relax.  There's a photo that was shown to me of the person who gave me the theme for this and she was making a quilt for her grandchildren in the sun.  So at this place, you can hear loads of birds, cattle, seagulls and, occasionally, you can hear the horses running in the field behind the cottage.  And yeah, that's what I wanted to convey in this soundscape.  I think that you can hear the heat that inspired this one.  Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy!

'Sewing In The Back Garden'

Yeah....if you've been tuning in to my stream, you can tell that this was a tough one to make.  I used the microcosm twice with this once.

I'm not really sure what else to say about this one?  Last night was the first time that I used my flute with the Bit Commander pedal and it really went down well.  I was working with these words, but I wanted to convey 'hot and fluffy' and then 'Bitter, Sweet and Harsh' and I think we got that!  I hope you enjoy it as always!

'Blueberry Muffin, Coffee With No Milk'

Finished 2 soundscapes last week and they're finally ready for posting!  I'm sorry for the delay!

For this one I wanted to capture the feelings of transitioning from autumn, or fall, to winter.  You have the warm colours of the leaves represented with a lovely cello melody and the ambient atmosphere surrounding this one, but as it progresses it gets slightly colder and colder.  I really had a good time with this one and we banged it out relatively quickly!  I hope you guys enjoy it!
