We're pleased to welcome to the series this week, a true legend of the scene, and a personal hero of ours... Mr Dicky Trisco!

"This mix was recorded one night in my basement studio using 2 Pioneer CDJ 2000s, a Pioneer 800 feeding direct into an old Yamaha CD recorder I've had forever, a few cold beers and a couple of Don Julio Terquila shots. I prefer to record them that way with no computer involved as the vibe and sound always feels better to me. 

I love that blend of raw House and Disco that defines the SlothBoogie sound. So I grabbed a load of stuff I love old and new with that feel and banged it into a folder. I always had in the back of my mind as a guide to get to that Joe Cleen cut Give You All I Got which was a big tune for me at gigs around the world before the pandemic cancelled the social life. And it also featured a lot during my lockdown basement live jams. 

The rest was just a matter of going with the flow which I believe is always the best way to travel.

In its 8th release dsrptv rec welcomes the producer and musician from Santa Catarina Kika Deeke. The artist brings her characteristic identity between organic and synthetic to the Céu Aberto EP release. Featuring two original tracks, “Céu Aberto” and “Água Salgada”, the first one with Inácio on vocals, the piece also features two remixes signed by Cauana and another by the label itself.
The salty breeze evaporates through the sun heat and carries a soft and harmonic freshness. Céu Aberto prints solar and vivid textures to the sound of Inácio's welcoming voice, leading the verses along with the artist's organic timbres and arrangements.
For “Água Salgada”, Kika builds a soft and summertime atmosphere in a multi-sensory experience connecting textures that echo between the movement of the sea and the sound of birds, presenting analog instruments that illustrate the feeling of a warm evening.
For the remixes, Cauana brings the essence of “Céu Aberto” in a dark, enigmatic and experimental atmosphere. In the dsrptv rec version of “Céu Aberto”, the label bets on a percussive instrumental reinterpretation guided by the drum groove that surrounds the dancing atmosphere of the original song

DJ Offbeat, Chris Galvan, and OdDio end the decade by taking a look back at some of the Labels and Artists that have influenced us, inspired us, and led us to where we are today.

We examined Compost Records, Jazzanova, Schema Records, 4 Hero, and Especial Records in December. We started the year off right with a look at Scandinavian Jazz and Nicola Conte. This week we focus on Gerardo Frisina.

Gerardo Frisina is a vital piece of the Ishtar equation. His deep knowledge of jazz has been key in the creation and success of Ishtar, which houses most notably the Schema and Rearward labels. He began as a producer for artists involved with Ishtar and quickly moved into production of his own records. This began with the release of Ad Lib in 2001 and has since brought us Hi Note and The Latin Kick. Along the way, he has managed to ring up an impressive catalog of remixes of modern jazz tunes, as well as an incredible selection of classic artists including the likes of Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, and more.
