Creator of the cover releases for our 9th release with the help of Brazilian model, Marta Bez.

The 3 song compilation is produced by Dük a Lebanese music producer based out of Montreal, Canada.

For this release, we’ve featured NYC based photographer Abi Polinsky who is also the artist and creator of the EP covers. 

Taken at his studio in Chelsea Manhattan, Abi had created his own interpretation of Dük's songs through his photography to create the cover of each song with the collaboration from Brazilian model, Marta Bez. 

The main cover is an illustration made by our in house designer, Maf On Tropics. Maf was inspired by Duk’s lebanese heritage throughout her creative process. 

We are happy to see the results of a beautiful illustration that represents where duk’s from with inclusion of the photographs taken by our 9th featured artist, Abi Polinsky.

FAT-zig022 Taron-Trekka - Pourpre Sable EP

When the rush wears off, relaxation sets in. It figures. Yet, it is not easy to strike the right chord for every era musically. Taron-Trekka is familiar with both: the exhilarating turmoil and pushing of a club night as well as the soothing decay and the eager beginning of the night. One simply hears this in their countless tracks. The new EP “Pourpre Sable” focuses on the beginnings and the endings: when things go calmer, continuously or reconvened, when conversations, thoughts and memories mingle with gliding grooves, when the synapses are fully attuned to deepness.
 
However, the three tracks are not making do with reduced, dimmed house arrangements – despite those very three being a truly big deal in terms of deepness. No way, Taron-Trekka have snatched Violet Starfish.  Their casual, yet almost intimate singsong gives the tracks a spoken word profundity that will melt in one’s mouth. Never intrusive, never put-on. Instead, subtly entangled with the grooves and chords. Storytelling on and beside the dancefloor.

”Okular“
In decelerated fashion, ”Okular“ shifts through entwined string sections, flushed by a few brightly flashing key strokes on the synth. In addition, a brief smile from Violet Starfish. Super deep.

”Shera“
The atmosphere remains dimmed, but the bass drum is a lot tighter. ”Shera“ focuses on field recordings of a distant road, on few, concise sounds and the voice of Violet Starfish. Is this the prime time peeking out or can we expect any more to happen today?

”The Willow Tree“
A track with classical potential. Gently vibrant house chords amid dynamic bass drums and percussions, Violet Starfish at its best. A shimmer in the air and all of a sudden, the sun is flooding the floor with all its warmth.

Subsonic Music Ltd continue to build on the success of their first two releases with a fascinating new offering from Dylan Griffin & Chad B, while the EP is lead by two inspired and refined interpretations from the legendary DoubtingThomas.  

Thomas is better know as Aurélien Rivière and has released the likes of Metroline, Amam and Organic-Music in both EP and album format. He is a regular at the finest clubs around Europe and has innovative studio skills that result in compelling club grooves.

First up is his Soft Remix, a seven minute journey into symphonic sounds. Minimal drums are overlaid with classical piano keys and broad synth strokes that make for a cavernous atmosphere and beautiful headspace. His Break Remix is more club focused, with dub chords and hi fidelity details. The hunched drums roll on as little effects and modulations come at unpredictable intervals, with muffled vocals and icy hi hats also thrown into the mix to make it an absorbing ride.

The original comes from Dylan Griffin & Chad B, who appeared on the last release on the label and both hail from Australia. They are a newly emerging studio force who together are bringing plenty of fresh perspectives to their slick grooves. From field recordings taken from the rising slopes of Cote Rotie in France to a humble city studio in Melbourne Australia, their latest melodic minimal number is an utterly fresh proposition.

Entitled ‘Cote Rotie,’ it is warm, supple track with bendy synths and rubbery kicks. Deft little derails flesh out the groove and occupy your mind as the drums demand you dance. It’s a fulsome, organic sound that really gets under your skin.These are three classy minimal tunes for the more intimate and heady floors out there.

Release twenty-two on San Francisco’s Manjumasi sees Vincent Casanova return to the label for a second original EP. The Secret Tourism EP showcases what we know and love best about Vincent - absolutely irresistible grooves and luscious basslines, perfectly seasoned to taste with sonic details.

The first cut, Zyasta, is anchored by an incredibly funky bass riff that works its way into a very satisfying call-and-response with a playful bell lead. It’s an addictive hook that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go. Next up is Secret Tourism, which pushes into a more lush territory with soft, ethereal pads and chopped up vocal snippets that evoke a feeling of exploration, as the track’s title implies. The final original on the package is Watermelon Smash, with its big round bassline setting the mood for loads of juicy melodic elements to weave through the tune.

The first remix comes from Dance Spirit, who have turned in an absolutely mesmerizing IDM re-interpretation of Zyasta. Abstract off-kilter rhythms and swirling synths melt together into a tapestry of sound. Next is a deep tech remix of Watermelon Smash from Birds ov Paradise, who morphs the track’s melodies into a minor key, adding deep and drummy layers of complex percussion.

The chilean producer and musician Guillermo Muñoz Velasquez was born in 1990 in Valdivia, Chile, where he taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 13. Later he began to play the piano and studied jazz. Always looking for new sounds, he came to electronic music, where he began his career as a producer and DJ. Existencia Pasajera’s minimal EP "Sequential" on Freude am Tanzen combines experimental details and mesmerizing grooves with samples of organic instruments. With the track "Sirenum Scopuli" Existencia Pasajera awakes the summer feeling.

Alejandro Mosso is an Argentinian electronic music composer, producer, and live performer as well as a sound installation artist currently based in Berlin. 

A prolific studio wizard with a vast discography of more than 40 EPs and 8 albums for world-renowned labels since 2002. He’s appeared on industry classics such as Cocoon, Hivern Discs, Third Ear, and Sushitech, while also launching projects lush with musicality on Do Not Sit, When We Dip XYZ, Sol Selectas, and his own Mosso imprint. Alejandro has collaborated with genre-defining artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Burnt Friedman, Tim Green, and many more.

With his particular brand of “musical club music”, Alejandro has developed a distinctive sound palette, balancing electronic and acoustic sounds, sitting at the intersection of deep house, minimal, tribal, and experimental dance music.

Mosso’s live show is the centerpiece of his artistic career. As a worldwide touring musician, he has performed his live set across North & South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, including respected events and venues like MUTEK, Fabric, Amnesia, Space, Womb, Rex, Watergate, KaterBlau, Hive, Cityfox, Arma 17, Garbicz and Caprices Festival.

In 2020 he obtained a master’s degree in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from the University of the Arts Berlin, expanding his career into the world of sound art, presenting sound and light installation works in art galleries across Berlin, and releasing various experimental and 3D immersive audio projects like the critically acclaimed Other Worlds. A multifaceted artist constantly broadening his field of work.
