For me it was a very interesting and joyful experience to play this set for breidenbach label. Since my music evolved by time into a more progressive and darker style, this was a good opportunity to play happy tunes again. This Podcast is all about grooves embedded in fluffy melodies which progress into a more bass centered minimal sound. Enjoy!

▌I How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
First, I listened to a few previous mixes on the United We Stream Soundcloud page. I wanted to create something unique to my style but also within the realm and style of the previous DJ's. Next, I went through my catalogue of music and put songs into sub-folders and of course added new releases as the time neared for my set to be due. My main inspiration was my love for music and the various styles of Techno I enjoy mixing. I stuck in some tracks that are very Afro influenced with the drum beats but for the most part stayed true to a mixture of melodic and industrial Techno. Unlike most of my sets this one does not feature a vocal mash-ups but there are some vocals that I enjoyed looping.


▌II How do you make use of technology?
All of my sets for this platform and others are all done live. Once I press play, what happens is pure instincts and my knowledge of the tracks. So I would say my use of technology when it comes to creating mixes is very simple. Monitors, decks, headphones, and of course my USB with the tracks. I don't use any effects machines or production equipment, so I try to layer and do mash-ups to create build ups and give the mixes textures. 


▌III What’s your favorite club and what’s your favorite festival - explain why!
My favourite club is Ushuaia...the open air vibe, the flyovers, it's a magical venue in a magical place.
My favourite festival is Movement Festival. That really doesn't need an explanation but the organic nature of the festival and pure love for Techno music of the attendees makes it just enjoyable. It's about nothing but the music!

Gray presents United We Rise Podcast Nr. 119

Tobi Dei called me on Friday 10th June quite late in the evening and asked me to open the Tunnel floor in Sisyphos the next day at 12 noon. I asked if I could play some unusual, less commercial kind of techno and he said that would be a good idea. So I was happy to play spontaneously on my favourite floor. The sound is so good there, so is the air.

I began setting up in the Hamma Halle then Peter (artist care) and Julius came and moved the now motorised DJ booth on its rails from the Halle into the Tunnel with me on it. What a buzz!

A number of people complimented me on this set – most were discerning members of staff I think. In fact, I got the best compliment I ever had from a man backstage.

He said: “You are the DJ who shows people that techno music is an art form”.
I said: “Thank you! That is exactly what I am trying to do”.
I wish I had asked who he was…

- Biography -

Born in France and currently based in Berlin, Alek Sis started his musical journey in 2018. In the booth, Alek Sis is like a mad scientist with a mixer. While performing, he’s always blending numerous sounds together, keeping the mix in constant flow and continuously adding something new to existing tracks. He stitches together syncopated patterns, psychedelic atmospheres, dreamy melodies, and high-energy percussion by merging different genres such as Old School Trance, Goa Trance, Groovy Techno, Synthwave, and Hard Techno Trance.

No matter the sound direction he’s taking, Alek Sis always keeps a floating vibe, a vibrant energy, a dreamy melody, and a deep groove. His sounds are meant to express feelings like euphoria, melancholia and nostalgia. 

He's also one of the founders of TADAAA established in 2024, a group dedicated to spreading trance music, smiles, and kindness throughout Berlin.
