Experimental Bass Mix

An improved iteration of my live DJ debut at Liquid Love on a lovely fall evening on in September. The set took place on a Bed-Stuy rooftop as the party was just warming up and the sun was starting its descent. 

I kicked things off with some dreamier house vibes before getting into a little harder UK inflected sounds later in the mix as the sun was disappearing just in time for Boo Lean to step in and take the party to the next level.

Live from xPizza for CCC Radio @cncld on March 23rd. 

This was the first time I've gotten to really hone in and play an hour of the sounds I'm most interested in, which aren't naturally conducive to an opening slot. 

Started things off at 80 bpm with some dnb, ramped up to 160, pullled back to 140, before ramping back to close things out at 160 with some miami bass and a big jungle tune.

CCC RADIO - ALEKSANDER

I was asked by my company to perform 10-minute star wars themed mixes for May 4th to open and close our company all-hands meeting. 

First 10 minutes was the intro as people were joining so I focused on accessibility and in the second mix I played music more in line with my taste and style.

I earned the spot as the company's resident dj with these performances

MIX DESCRIPTION
In response to the theme of self-preservation, I journeyed into the tranquil recesses of my Rekordbox, seeking solace in the more ambient realms of sound. I perceive self-preservation, much like many others do, as a slowing of the world's relentless pace, an embrace of practices like yoga that quieten the mind and awaken the soul. Despite my initial intentions, the mix veered into more rhythmic territories, a detour born from a challenging attempt #1 recording the night before where a meticulously planned instrumental opening proved elusive. Preparation is the cornerstone, but an overly scripted mix is like a bird with clipped wings. While the mix may not be devoid of missteps, it was born from the spirit of exploration, of dabbling in untamed soundscapes. Self-preservation implies forgiveness, a grace we must extend especially when we dare to venture into unfamiliar terrains.

DJ BIO
Aleksander is a brooklyn based DJ and true lover of music. He founded @naturalmusic over five years ago while living in Ohio with the goal of lifting up underappreciated artists and helping people keep up with the barrage of incredible music coming out weekly. The site, naturalmusic.co is a trove of remarkable music across every genre. Aleksander’s tastes range widely but behind the decks he prefers speedy and bass-centric UK sounds; favoring jungle, bass, breaks, and drum ‘n bass.

Despite being relatively new to DJing, Aleksander brings years of intense digging and listening that ensures that his sets are always filled with electrifying selections. He’s played at xPizza, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and some rooftop parties, including his very own “Fool’s Gold”.
