a. Yunzero, or Jim :)

q. is there a story behind the mix?
a. Just artists I love, mostly chill. I don’t DJ, so I love the challenge. There’s a lot of music from the 2000’s, very cut and paste, some wonky-era beat stuff that I slowed down, local gems, music to really chill to.. but not TOO much. Btw there was a Venetian Snares track in this mix that I took out because it ruined the vibe, but listen to “Shoot Myself”, it’s beautiful 

q. what’s the best way to enjoy your mix?
a. Beer and a beanbag

q. describe a favourite object in your living room…
a. There’s a “no smoking” sticker stuck exactly in the middle of the window, left by our previous tenant (an elderly Greek man) which is so funny to me 

q. are you working on any projects right now?
a. I’m taking a break from producing, and instead enjoying playing in a band (Cloud Ice 9), travelling to Japan soon, reading more, quitting smoking (see above). I made an ASMR for my friend Chas’ art exhibition opening this weekend, and I’d love to make more dance floor-heavy tracks next :)

This album extends an antennae to the noise, with opener ‘Gruulsignet’ chasing signals in the roil and capturing divine voices in the static. The caustic swirl of ‘Yedora’ and ‘Foil’ are disrupted by glimmering, otherworldly transmissions, heartstopping melodic bursts breaking through like beams of concentrated light through a dark, gnarled wilderness. But it’s on ‘Rhystic Study’ and ‘Choral Chaos Re-Drum’ where the light is forged into form — d&b-inflected slappers that go off like they’re transcribed from ancient druidic runes. The road is long and perilous, so consider this album an amulet, a protective charm, a talisman. This is pathfinder music.

The 45th release of katharsis is the EP "Intrusion" by Italian artist Lefka, releasing in full on October 28th. Throughout the six tracks of the EP, Lefka swaddles the listener in a dense and distorted quilt of sound that feels both heavy and light at the same time. "Intrusion" is a release that aims to sonify the acceptance of intrusive thoughts through a kathartic and emotionally intense experience.

Through heavy use of granular synthesis and electric guitar recordings, the release varies from calm, introspective moments to peaks of intense sound pressure. Like through glass, the sounds refract and are broken into pieces, creating an aural effect of rebound and confused scattering, and like intrusive thoughts, the tracks have abrupt peaks that reset the silence with unsettling intensity.

Lefka is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. As in a stream of consciousness, his own productions are characterized by an irreverent and disillusioned approach, which aim to detach from a precise genre-categorization.

Sound artist Igor Dyachenko has transformed data from the Garage Museum archive into a sound work titled Atemporal.

The archival data from the RAAN is transformed by the author into an auditory dimension through the process of sonification. Each archive element enters into a network of interrelations, shaping a layered soundscape untethered from conventional concepts of time, form, or space. This sonic environment is in constant flux, transitioning from a state of information to one of emotional resonance. The project challenges the static nature of archival data, reinterpreting it through acoustic resonances and distortions, where sound as a medium reveals a new dimension of perception and experience.

I feel the same way I did when I released Hexalyne last September, completely amazed by the musical quality of these artists, not only at the compositional or production level or the spectacular quality of the sound but above all the quality of the people, it is a blessing to be able to work with them.

This album has all the elements that I, at least, have always looked for in a good composition, syncopated and complex rhythms + Glitches, deep bass (the more the better), exciting melodies that make me travel to another place, and that the elements, synthesizers, etc. take a step forward in the treatment of sound.
As you well know, this is fucking difficult, which makes you think that the composer is pure genius.

This is what you will find in Gobelin Stitches, Thomas has woven an album so easy to listen to and understand that you wish it had at least 20 more songs.
Our deepest gratitude to this artist who has given us this masterpiece.
