First up are two rising producer in UK Garage, Daffy & Dominus, combining for 'Warlord' - A Dubstep number featuring London City Warlord and OG Roll Deep general, Riko Dan. Classic 140 arrangement and sub-lows setting the pace for the one of the most recognisable grime flows over the past two decades. On the flip comes a speed garage remix by the ever illusive Yorkshire outfit Soul Mass Transit System.

Coco Bryce delivers the next cut for ec2a' TWLVZ series. ‘Want U’ comes with a signature RnB vocal that Myor so often mesmerises listeners with in his Jungle tracks. Jungle Techno is the motive on this one though; the 160 4x4 pattern providing the energy underneath the escapism. Breaka delivers the remix for this one, fresh off the back of his debut album, introducing keys and pitching up vocals for the hardcore fans amongst us.

TWLVZ002- Coco Bryce & Breaka - Want U [Snippets]

Out on 14th April 2023, Curtain Road Vol. 2 is the latest swag from label of the moment ec2a, recently tipped as DJ Mag’s ‘Vital Label’ (March 2023). Ec2a’s Original Pirate Material sub-imprint is dedicated to full-run vinyl releases showcasing the scene’s most promising new talent. Following earlier releases from DJ Swagger, Main Phase and Bluetoof, among others, this new VA EP features a whopping six genre-blending club hits from producers working across the bass spectrum.

Kicking things off breezily on the A side is Over And Out label head Xander, with MJ Cole-style UKG excellence on ‘You Can’t Do This’. Liverpool beats-smith and M62 Records boss Tubz shows off his versatility on ‘Like That’, playing with US garage house stabs and vocals before bringing in an unmistakably UK bassline. Dominus, one of Beatport’s ‘Six Emerging Artists On Our Radar’ in October 2022, wraps up the first side with ‘The Heist’, a stepping mood piece that sees multiple bass and sub-basslines duking it out in the dark. 

The B side opens with Lovellius, a North-East based, South-West raised producer who strikes a sweet note on the sample-driven broken soul jam ‘Told You’. Fresh from featuring on Jaguar’s ‘Introducing’ segment on BBC Radio 1 Dance and supporting Interplanetary Criminal’s ‘Fugitive’ tour in Brighton, Van Wilkins reaches for a sweet R&B vocal sample on ‘Lose My Mind (New Mix)’, here pairing it with tough jungle rhythms and melancholic pads. Finally, following an appearance on Conducta’s Kiwi Rekords and two prior releases on ec2a’s main imprint, Warwick closes things out with the breakbeat epic ‘Vania’, the soundtrack to a battle raging somewhere out there in the cosmos.

After dropping some classic ec2a dubplates, Bristol producer Longeez is applying major pressure on the second UNIT6 EP: a funhouse of head-pounding house and trance, all with side winding bass that gives you no option but to move. “Hit My Woop” comes laced with DirtySouth rap vocals while “Too Much Booty” messes with wild-eyed rapping that demands ass-shaking from everyone on the floor. Longeez adds in whistles, fizzing acid and adrenaline-rushing yelps-it moves with the urgency of someone with their phone on 2% battery.“Funki Beat” switches to helium-filled donk with a trancey second act, and “Lasers” comes right behind with a attention-nabbing synth that could be a morse code, then a finale worthy of closing the night out and hot enough to set the sprinklers off.

On remix duties, we welcome Danny Snowden. True to form, his signature sound shines through while letting the Original breathe, delivering a remix that feels like the perfect counterpart to the EP.
