We’re very happy to release this 2-track EP by Soul Beat Runna. He previously released a Free DL single (https://soundcloud.com/samsarab/soul-beat-runna-sly?in=samsarab/sets/singles-free-download)with our label that has been largely appreciated by our audience and supported by many DJs. 

The title-track is a 4x4 high energy old school, bass-driven track with a very interesting use of scat samples. The second track is more introspective with its trippy arpeggios.

Last but not least, ALL the proceeds of the EP will be donated to Mind https://www.mind.org.uk

“The idea for True Rebels came to me at the end of 2020. I wanted to make a Footwork/Jungle/160 track that paid homage to early Detroit Techno pioneers such as Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins. The piano riff came first and then the tune practically wrote itself. For the B-Side I made a couple of tracks that didn't make the grade and then came up with a 16 bar loop that I thought was ok. I struggled to think of a way to make it more interesting and then found a tune in my collection with the scat loop that I used to complete it. Ironically the B-Side turned out to be the better track so that is the title of the EP!
Regarding my decision to donate the profits to charity, my girlfriend and I have benefited greatly from the support of the people at Mind (https://www.mind.org.uk) over the years and I want to give something back to an organization that has changed our lives for the better, forever. Thanks to everyone supporting me and my music, I hope you enjoy the tunes.”

about:

a year or two ago, some friends and I were messing around on some decks throwing various acapellas over songs, and happened to try Stormzy's 'Wiley Flow' over first four bars of Burials famed 'Archangel'. it was so catchy that I had to sit-down and make a full version, recreating the rhythm of the break w/ my own sounds and tastes, and then building from there.

I spend so much of my time taking music-making very seriously, and something like this that's a bit more fun and relaxed was a really refreshing creative change,
