The Ghost Ranch - For Georgia O'Keeffe

Alessandra Naccarato & The Wild Hunt is a collection of poems for survival, set to compositions by Ali Berkok (piano), Jennifer Slade (vocals), Matthew Hayter (guitar) and Lucas Tensen (cello). From our relationship to nature, to our relationship to each other, this album seeks out the possibility of transformation and reconciliation. Part love song, part call-to-arms, it is the culmination of years of writing by Alessandra Naccarato, fused with organic compositions by skilled musicians. Steeped in myth and shot through with magic, this work refuses to believe in the world as it is; it calls on the ghosts of Frida Khalo and Georgia O’Keefe, turns Greek gods human, and hitchhikes back from North Carolina with a litany of how we might survive.  


Alessandra Naccarato is a writer, performer and teacher based on Salt Spring Island, BC.  Winner of the Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers, the Reader’s Choice Award for the CBC Poetry Prize, and Event Magazine’s  Creative Non-Fiction Award, her writing has appeared across Canada and the United States. She has toured nationally and internationally as a spoken word artist, worked with thousands of youth across the country, and is currently completing an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia.
