Shadows

A song about being a man; Vulnerability, doubt, weakness, a sense of duty and resolve. It's only short, but I think I've got the message across. It sort of sits between Elliott Smith and Paul Simon in terms of influence. I hope you enjoy it.

Drink For My Baby

On the face of it, clearly the song tells the story of a 19 year old prostitute. Josie has left her home behind, got involved with the wrong crowd, become hooked on drugs and funded her habit by 'renting out her time'. However, underneath the surface, it's more than that. Like 'Shadows', this song is about feeling isolated, succumbing to temptation, losing contact with loved ones and longing for escape. Josie knows that the path home is difficult and that it's only in her dreams that she can detach from her current situation. This is another which will be released on my album in the new year.

To Dream

This song will also feature on the album. This is a song inspired by the sentiment found in the books of Mitch Albom- mainly Tuesdays with Morrie. Life is an accumulation of images and memories which we collect, either of people, places or emotions. Some of those images become distorted over time, whilst others are as clear as they were when we first experienced them. That's not to say that they are more important or relevant, it's just how it is. Anyway, this song although sad in parts, is intended to be uplifting- after all, we are all just waves across the ocean. Recorded with Kate Thomas singing with me and Andy Coles on percussion

Still Frames

This song is the closing song from my upcoming album. It's my best song in my opinion; or at least the one I'm most proud of. It's about finding a quiet moment/space to reflect in, with all the other crazy things in your life carrying on in the background. Enjoy!

Moonlight Across The River

Multi-layered guitars and multi- layered vocals describe a not unusual situation, by being as unusual as possible. The song has a very loose structure, with each section not quite sitting where you would expect them to. Enjoy

Born For The City

Singer songwriter:  Well I suppose that is the closest description, but I'd probably say I'm a songwriter vocalist/guitarist! I'm recording an album for release in the new year! There is no record company behind me, no cigar smoking manager and no limousine to drive me to gigs. Like most people in the industry, I'm trying to do it by myself. I'm now releasing what I consider to be my first proper release, my very own solo album. It is a concept album of sorts, in the way that the theme of growing up and the experiences/characters you meet on your way through the early part of adult hood, is maintained throughout. But I've also tried to leave a lot of the songs open to interpretation, as we all have different experiences. The Track I've included SHADOWS, will be the opening track.
