Nachtdigital Mint marks the last edition of Nachtdigital Festival: After more than two decades it is time for a change. Over the course of the past eight years, Nachtdigital has given birth to a dozen releases in various formats. "Nachtdigital Mint" is the final statement - a return to the roots, in its most accomplished form.

Starting with a single 10inch release in 2011, the Nachtdigital label has evolved both musically and visually. 2017 saw the release of the first double LP with gatefold cover - a format that since has become the preferred mode of operation. For the last two years, Nachtdigital has focussed primarily on commissioned works, with thematically curated releases. The "Nachtdigital Mint" compilation marks the return to the original idea of the label: To compile tracks from artists of this year’s festival program, without much fuzz about conceptual works. The result is refreshingly energetic and gives a glimpse into the heterogeneous sound of the festival itself: Combining young talents with accomplished producers, raw sounds with dreamy delicacies. Side D was compiled in collaboration with Prague’s club institution Ankali - a fitting closing statement, as collaborations are what Nachtdigital has always been about.

Lost Palms welcomes Astro, Edinburgh-based purveyor of space age dance music, to the family with Into The Past EP - a high drama record which builds you into a state of tension and won’t let you stop dancing.

The title track is a cavernous peak-time warehouse epic that tempts you deeper, leading into the muscular pulse of ‘Strange Object’. This has real Basic Channel DNA, minimalist but driving. Another beefy dub techno pumper, ‘Calipso’ stays close to the kick drum and showcases an infectious syncopated bassline. Razor sharp scifi B1 ‘Spitzer’ opens up into ear tickling reese bass and some classic Euro squelch; it leads in nicely to ‘Mars’, a dramatic centrepiece to the EP begging to be let loose on a sunrise set. ‘Celestial’ is the last track but the energy doesn’t let up for a second, making use of another growling sawtooth bass patch and the hint of acid style pads. The record feels like a trip into orbit and back - enthralling and clever, yet perfectly built for the dancefloor.

German producers Steve Bug & Tim Engelhardt join forces for their next offering on LNOE! Two explorative, melodic techno productions laced with rich synths and bumping grooves.

‘Eyes of the Python’ combines a menacing, explorative bassline with spacious drums and atmospheric drops. A 4/4 kick drives the track along while the ever-evolving synths swell and breathe giving life to the track as it steadily progresses, layer by layer. ‘River of Oblivion’ sees the duo express themselves through a more spacious, syncopated bassline cast over sparkling percussion loops and a dynamic kick drum. This simplistic, effective composition will bring a breath of fresh air to your next set.
