23 years ago the KLF announced they were leaving the music business. They deleted their back catalogue and burned £1m on a remote island in Scotland. This mixumentary tells their story; a strange and often chaotic tale traversing hip hop, gospel, trance, techno, ambient, house and pop amongst other things. It is my tribute to the band that produced the first single I ever bought, a tribute to a band that, despite becoming the largest selling singles act in the world, remain largely forgotten.

En resumen, esta es mi reinterpretación de la banda sonora de la película. Incluye demos y diferentes versiones de los remixes inspirados en la película que publiqué en estos meses y que formaron parte de la serie 'Melodies From The White Room'. También hay otras canciones que nunca publiqué, que no estaban terminadas, que fueron modificadas o simplemente que hice con el único propósito de incluirlas en esta banda sonora.

Aclaración: Hace aproximadamente un mes publiqué los enlaces a la banda sonora y al video titulados ‘The Full Mix’, pero luego los eliminé junto con el post. En aquel momento había basado el remix en el audio original de la película y no recordé que no sincronizaban. Mientras miraba el video en Youtube lo recordé y para ese momento ya tenía tres reproducciones y tres descargas en soundcloud. Lo sé, debí revisarlo antes… =P

Ese error me sirvió para darme cuenta de que podía y quería hacerlo mejor. Siempre siguiendo el tracklist original, presenté otras mezclas tanto nuevas como descartadas originalmente, recreé algo de lo original y sincronicé (lo más difícil) lo que a mi criterio había que corregir. No fue fácil y me costó bastante trabajo ya que no cuento con mucho tiempo libre.  

Cuando comencé con la idea de ‘Melodies’, en primer lugar solo pensé en recrear algunas canciones en particular (básicamente el volumen 1) y luego se me ocurrió por un breve lapso hacer toda la película. Decliné esa idea ya que me pareció muy arriesgada y decidí seguir haciendo remixes nuevos. Una vez terminado el volumen 3 la idea de la mezcla completa reapareció y al fin hoy les presento el resultado final.

The KLF were Bill Drummond & Jimmy Cauty.
Ahead of their time, like many of their greatest releases, only 500 copies of this track were pressed.
Single sided vinyl, it is pure gold.
Beautiful music for the morning after, especially if you are on day 3 or 4.

The original was on 'Chill Out' (1990), an album that hopefully speaks for itself and needs no more explanation, as my grammar needs work and I'm a crap typist. If you don't know 'Chill Out', cease doing everything until it is filling the space you are in. Then spend the rest of the day taking a long hard look at yourself. I mean really, are you for real? What happened? It will be hard, but stay positive and you may be able to catch up.

As everyone in the music business should know, The KLF deleted the entire back catalogue of all their master recordings in 1992 and left the music business after their final performance at the Brit Awards. It was a thrash punk version of '3a.m. eternal' that concluded with Bill Drummond unloading a clip of blanks at the crowd from an automatic gun, They later sent a motorcycle courier to collect their 'Best Band' award, which was dug up by a farmer years later in a field near Avebury, sent back to London and never seen since. The 1 million pounds they made from The KLF was later turned to art when on the 23rd August 1994, Bill, Jimmy, Gimpo & a journalist Jim Reid, went to the Island of Jura and in a deserted boathouse they burned the lot. All they ask is that you know about it - and maybe tell them why.
