Benwaa returns to Gibbon with quite simply Techno. The Rain is deep and dark brooding, snatching sounds into the air building up to immersion in lush pads and synths taking us deeper into the shower and soundscape of sound. Vilt is a more direct techno floor mover, with a dark moving and driving bassline and techno stabs, it's very reminiscent of moments in Berghain.
Umlaut pushes things in a more driving direction, with an upfront bass movement and eery pads pushed in a dark yet grooving direction, with a cheeky groove built out of various sounds and a vocal deeming you "come on", it's a very set friendly piece of Techno that appeals to a lot of floors.
PHCK and Bootleg Ben are on remix duties. PHCK return to Gibbon bringing The Rain to us in a familiar warmth of added synths and strings really which takes things to another feeling, bringing the soundscaped immersion to us in deep house form that is unique to them.
Bootleg Bens take leads us in a more Tech house direction, with psychedelic bleeps, and brain spinning pads layered under glitched out percussion, there's a distinct progressive feel of the early 2000's about it that is embracing and wouldn't be out of place with in a John Digweed set of that era."

Hello followers! For this week we share a breath of fresh air with a beautiful mix put together by Emanuele Pertoldi aka. Shaded Explorer

Emanuele Pertoldi (@emanuelepertoldi) was born in a small village in the North East of Italy. Since he was a child he had a strong passion for music and it became stronger and stronger. He took a degree in Modern Music - Music Production in Bologna. 

 Sound research, creativity and passion are the keys of his tracks.  He founded Evasion Room Records with Riccardo D'Agostini in 2011 and Evasion Room Live with Riccardo, Daniele and Andrea, a live based on improvisations only with hardware machines and synths. He is doing other projects with these guys. With Andrea as Tripsolate & Redundænt and with Riccardo as Synkät.

In 2013 he started a new alias, S/EXP (Shaded Explorer), with the aim to represent himself in a more intimate way.  The description of the project says: "S/EXP lives in a place where the music is hidden behind a dense fog and dreams are suffocated by an unpromising reality. This stimulates him to continue his research of magical places around the world, being them ethereal landscapes, deep cenotes or blue seas. In those places he discovered and created new sounds, melodies and rhythms that melted together create soundscapes for escape." The first release is an album on Eclipsemusic that was also played live by him (just with hardware) at Club To Club in Turin, one of the most representative festivals in Italy. Following this concept in 2014 he founded his own intimate imprint Shaded Explorations.

2013 was important also for another new project, Mørk, with his Berlin based friend Devincenti Francesco. The project is focused on hardware only live acts too, but with a more experimental edge than the other projects. Field recordings, modular synths and textures are the keys of this new duo.

Bio:

 Meneer Willems is a 23 year old vinyl record collector and DJ from Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He is inspired by labels such as Northern Electronics, Hypnus and Silent Season and is interested in the deeper and hypnotic sides of techno.  Additionally, he was a frequent visitor of the famous Imprint nights in the legendary club Trouw.

Starting off with a couple ambient tracks, the mix gradually increases the tempo and tries to draw you along into the depths. The mix is recorded with two turntables and a Denon mixer.

Dorian Gray (aka Moreno from Italy) takes his name from the infamous Oscar Wilde character who trades his soul for an eternal life of sinful debauchery. And indeed the heady world of underground club music can sometimes feel like this! The intensity of this dark concept is expertly weaved into the deep techno sound of Dorian Gray where Moreno keeps a strong focus on meticulous ambient loops moving into hypnotic techno rhythms. Moreno’s early influences hark back to the dark electronic 80s new wave sound but there are also jazz influences which have helped him coin the descriptive term of “afro-futurist techno”. Production work aside mainly with the note label Circular Limited, Dorian has received high accolades from artists such as Edit Select & Cio D'Or and he firmly states that his first love is DJing where he continues to push forward, proving his talent through various booking across Europe, in his native Italy and trips to his home from home, Berlin.
