Episode 13 of the FunkDown featuring 2 hours of Funk, Soul Disco and boogie grooves. For the 2nd Hour we have our Special Guest Pete Ellison bringing the funky flavas.

Pete Ellison has been DJing since the vinyl days of 1998, and his music collection from the past 20 years is vast.  He loves funk, soul and disco, but also plays an eclectic vibe encompassing trance, progressive house, techno, trip-hop, downtempo house and chillout. No matter what the genre or tempo, his sets always have an infectious beat and melody.  Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest set lasting 8 hours. 																																																							
																																																							
He runs a London-based DJ collective called Serendipity, who run boat parties  and underground events. Together they have played woodland raves, club takeovers and intimate festivals 																																																							
																																																							
He broadcasts a weekly show called the “Feel Good Friday Radio Show”, featuring talented guests each week from across the disco universe.																																																							
																																																							
Pete has also recently started producing his own music, with his first track reaching number #1 in the Juno Nu-Disco charts, and with another EP coming out shortly on Super Spicy Records

This week’s special guest is Adam Nova, a DJ, Producer and Music Curator born in Hungary but currently residing in Switzerland. I am a huge fan of his work, and you will have heard some his tracks played on my recent shows. 

Adam is a prolific producer, and has released a huge number of tracks on major labels such as M2MR, Springbok Records, Spa In Disco, Midnight Riot and Super Spicy Records. Last year he was ranked Number 38 Nu-Disco artist on Traxsource, and most of his tracks have hit the Top 10 Charts.

 It is the soul-funk-disco of the 70s and 80s that leave their marks on his style, while he also seeks for the new and trendy. Nice vocals and the vibes of real instruments are some of his most valued guidelines. He believes nothing can beat the unique sound of a good House and classic disco mash. His music is now picked up by many fellow DJs and is played at numerous dance events and radioshows all over the world. 

Since 2016 he has been the Music Curator and resident DJ in the iconic W Hotel in Switzerland (World's Best Ski hotel 2016-2020), where his events have hosted artists like Purple Disco Machine, Naughty By Nature, or Camelphat. 

He certainly never misses a chance to uplift the audience and get your feet move whether it’s at aprés-ski parties in famous resorts, music festivals or in clubs across the globe. After all, it’s all about the groove!

Episode 75: Feel Good Friday Radio Show (special guest Adam Nova)

Black Light Disco shins up the myhouseradio.fm Christmas Tree with the aim of getting your festive holiday week started with a bang. 

Our resident and BLD Chief Elf, Esteban was in the Gift Wrapping Room here in BLD Towers making his list (and checking it twice) to see who’s been naughty or nice. Spoiler alert - he’s nowhere near as judgemental as the ‘big fella in red’ so for the first hour he was dishing out the disco gifts for everyone. Expect crackers from the likes of Uptown Funk, Da Lukas, Pavel Svetlove, Prospect Park & Dave Lee, Ken@Work, Romy Black and Agent Stereo to name but seven.

For the second hour we have a very, special guest taking over the tinsel-laden decks - the one and only Ruff Diamond! 

Chris ‘Ruff Diamond’ Robinson is a widely acclaimed British producer, DJ and musician. Described by some of the key figures in the music industry as being a musical genius who combines versatility with vision, innovation, soul and passion, he has built up an impressive list of major and independent artist credits, transcending genres ranging from commercial R&B to Underground Electronic, Disco and straight up West Coast Funk, generating millions of worldwide record sales and streams.

Chris’ career has spanned over two decades since starting as a young session musician on the vibrant music scene in Manchester. Making his name as a ‘go to’ Funk guitarist, he has gone on to record and perform with a plethora of successful Artists including Maxi Priest, Grandmaster Flash, The Shapeshifters and Groove Armada.  His sound soon alerted the attention of USA label executives, and huge opportunities started landing from the other side of the Atlantic. 

As Ruff Diamond’s sound has evolved, his lifetime love of Boogie, Funk and Disco has very much come to the forefront of everything he is doing, and he is now making a significant impact in the genres as a Artist, Producer, DJ, and Label Boss having founded Manchester based SupaEarth Records in 2018. With recent releases on respected labels such as Big Love, Midnight Riot, Strictly Rhythm, Masterworks, Hot Digits, Rare Wiri and his own imprint, he is now becoming a man in great demand working on projects for the most coveted labels. 

We are absolutely delighted to land such a talented cookie for his BLD debut and we know you’re going to love what he has in store for us!

My special guest this week is Miss Disco, a soulful DJ who creates edits of her favourite tracks to produce a unique sound when playing at events.

Relatively new to the live scene in Manchester she decided to make her own edits to stand out in what can be a crowded market. Now residing in London she is mainly focusing on edits and mixes until we return to some form of normality post pandemic.

She is supported by Producer Beatphreak who helps with sound production on her edits, as well as producing some of his own remixes of the tracks.

Episode 79: Feel Good Friday Radio Show (special guest Miss Disco)

Its been a while since we posted anything, we pressed pause and took a back seat through the last wave of covid. But we are proud to announce our return to the Hull music scene on the 5th March 2022 @KINGSCAST Kings of Hull. The venue is kitted out with the top of the range system, decorated with that underground dance vibe and we are pleased to re-join the team to put on Hull's longest running Disco mix down. 

Disko Klubb is 9 this year, we hope that we can all leave the gloom of CoVid-19 behind and get back to what we love best. The crew are ready , the venue is ready so all we need is you to support us, Get ya sen out!!!! 5th march 2022, 9pm - 2am , Free party we welcome all new and old, and look forward to seeing you on the floor.
