Menkee´s version reminds us of a futuristic colourful bouncy spring that wraps around your body, while Paul 
Sawyer´s remix will gradually reveal punch shots that will not make you sit around.

Hello everyone, and welcome. Its time for us to pack our dancing shoes and get ready to hot-foot along to another PFG Progcast, our first class exclusive travel experience around Planet Prog!

Another new entry into the passport this week as we head south to Slovenia for the first time. Here a relatively new scene awaits us, yet one filled with quality, taste and pioneers, one of whom PFG are extremely happy to have onboard.

Stereolynk are a brilliant multi-dimensional duo currently twisting techno and house fans into rapturous fits. Comprised of Alex Nemec, head honcho of Mirabilis Records, and Nenad Putnik a seasoned musician who can play a multitude of instruments and is involved in various jazz, funk and indie projects. Together they have developed a dominant presence in the top tier of dance music, a rise that parallel to their successful solo careers.

When not in the studio writing original material putting their unique spin on tracks by myriads of artists Stereolynk can be found showcasing their sound on DI.FM.. Their dance floor orientated DJ sets have seen them play in Italy, Serbia, Croatia and Austria, as well as festivals. Totally unconstrained by boundaries they effortlessly transition between House, Techno and everything in-between, demonstrating an immaculate understanding of exactly what the dance floor needs.

Simplistically, Stereolynk's music is all about moving bodies, not turning knobs, all the while giving way to an unprecedented degree of dynamism in dance clubs around the globe. This mix accurately describes what they do best; colossal haunting house and techno, overflowing with noise, static and epic builds, wrapped in one tasteful package! To kickstart proceedings in 2022 on ICONYC Noir we welcome back our favorite Slovenian duo 'Stereolynk' to the label. The guys treat us to a massive indie anthem called 'Alma' that kicks things off nicely with its forlorn moodiness shining through, as we stroll effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sweltering piano theme sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. The track continues to build on an unyielding foundation of deep percussive grooves and bass-lines. 'Alma' is a skillful piece of music that highlights the Stereolynk's palpable talents.

The first remix comes courtesy of label Andrés Moris known for his polished and sophisticated sound profiling. He kept the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh and upfront. This transcendent touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, increases the élan with stripped back and lucid elements, before the luscious pads change the vibe and create a blanket of balminess that wraps around the accomplished groove. 'Essential stuff'

Next up we welcome back label all-star Ivan Berkowitz who is famed for his stylish and refined productions, created a rework full of tension from the word go. The introduced atmospheric vibe intelligently keeps you moving with warm dynamic sounds, a smooth driving edge and fine percussive fragments. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. It's all about the energetic groove and cool club vibes that are working their magic around Ivan's wonderfully arranged interpretation that creates an irresistible sequence while taking the mind on a trip.

Continuing their assault on the underground progressive house scene, with over half a century of high calibre releases, Suffused Music now turns to Bulgarian, Andrez, as he basks “In Your Afterglow” with four impressive remixes.

Born in the Sofia capital, an accomplished pianist and student of The State Academy of Music, began to establish himself as a dominant force in the city’s dance scene with appearances that would lead to inclusion to the InSound Promotions DJ agency. Production work quickly followed and almost 250 credits sitting proudly next to the Andrez name for such luminary imprints as Kansak, Enhanced and Balkan Connection South America. A deep bass vibe at its heart, the original mix pushes relentlessly forward with dynamic percussion arrangement and hypnotic, pulsating beat. Rise and falling with consummate ease, the track delivers with brooding intensity.

Former drum and bass star from the Greek capital, Athens based producer, Advent's Rising turned “360 degrees” to find a home within the progressive scene. A decade of experience on the DJ circuit within his homeland laid the foundations for a raft of releases since 2011’s debut on No Border Recordings. Over 20 production credits already for Suffused Music now sees Advent’s Rising take on Andrez with a slick reworking that combines the deep vibe of the original with additional urgency in the shape of subtle melodic variation that brings a new level of intrigue to “In Your Afterglow”.

Formerly half of the iconic pairing of Alex and Filip that dominated the underground scene with remixes of Dave Seaman, Trafik and Kassey Voorn, Alex Nemec needs little introduction to the musical cognoscenti. His work supported by the leading lights from Marco Bailey and John Digweed to Tiësto and Mark Knight, the head of the successful Mirabilis records now teams up with UK producer, Nik Feral. From his home in Manchester, Feral’s growing reputation was quickly cemented after signing to UMEK’s 1605 - MUSIC THERAPY imprint in 2011 and supported by the likes of Pig&Dan and Laurent Garnier. Thus, a plethora of credits can be found under the Mancunian’s name with a quarter of century alongside Nemec. Reworking Andrez, the duo’s remix of “In Your Afterglow”, reveals a dark hypnotic rhythm that lurks menacingly with strong house beat and cavernous bass, resonant of the original. A cleverly worked riff plays on the omnipresent darkness creating a techno driven monster.

After years spent studying the techniques and inspired by the sounds of Sasha and Digweed, Dutch producer, Jaap Ligthart, saw a passion for electronic music translated into appearances on Dutch national radio and support for his work from some of the industry’s finest names. Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo and Jody Wisternoff have all featured DJ Jaap Ligthart’s work in their sets for labels such as Black Hole Recordings and Manual Music. Taking driving rhythms as a starting point that propel his work forward, Ligthart’s remix of Andrez fills “In Your Afterglow” with a clever interpretation of the melodic themes present in the original mix to create a throbbing, filtered version to keep club floors full.

Final offering comes from Australian born producer, Matter. A student of the dance floors of Melbourne and London, time spent in his studio crafting “deep synth lines, driving bass and pulsating rhythms”, has been rewarded with recognition from such imprints as Stellar Fountain Records and Balkan Connection. Making his debut on Suffused Music, a deliciously bouncing bass line provides the foundation for intricate and immaculately programmed percussive rhythms to create a tightly locked groove. Echoes of the motif so prominent in the original are then treated to extra sheen as glitch and stutter provide added dimension to create an impressive rework of Andrez.

Sometimes an artist comes along and for whatever reason, they seem to have their fingerprints all over the music charts. Case in point is Sia whose own trajectory has been stratospheric the past few years, as well as writing for and guesting on hundreds of other artists releases. Alex Nemec comes from the small country called Slovenia, the same little country that brought Umek, Laibach and few other biggies to the world!

Starting to play out in clubs in 1998, he is an experienced dj and most surely best know as being one half of Alex & Filip. The duo has been working together since 2005 till late 2012 and their list of originals and remixes is quite sure impressive.
In the time being they had remixed artists like Dave Seaman, Inkfish, Trafik, Kassey Voorn, Jeff Bennet, Tim Andresen, Autophase, Fiord, Subfractal, Ran Shani, Sonic Union & Bastards of Funk and Soulwerk to name a few. Their originals and remixes appeared on highly respected independent labels like Tronic, Respekt, Rekluse, Baroque, Freshin, Flow Vinyl, Lowbit, MUM, Tulipa, Inkfish, Stripped and many more!

Together they have received the support and respect from well established DJ's from all over the dance music scene including tastemakers like John Digweed, Spektre, Fergie, Dave Seaman, Joseph Capriati, Marco Bailey, Tom Hades, Tiesto, Mark Knight, Miniminds, Nick Warren, Loco & Jam, Jim Rivers, Mr. Henry Von, Eddie Halliwell, Dubfire and Tomy DeClerque to name but a few!

Due to different musical views the duo split up in late 2012 just after completing their latest remix for the greek based Movement label.

In the recent years Alex has performed in all the major clubs across Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria and shared the decks with some of the world's finest spinners such as; Umek, Johannes Heil, Gabriel D'Or & Bordoy, Petar Dundov, Satoshi Tomiie, Desyn Masiello,Valentino Kanzyani, Adam Beyer, Scarlett Etienne, Paul Woolford, The Beginerz, Steve Porter, Cristian Varella, Technasia among others.
