Beatmatrix

My second appearance on the Beatmatrix radio show, hosted by the awesome Cleveland/Akron veteran and previous Groove Therapy DJ....StoutXTC. 

Last time I was on the show, it was my initial appearance and it gave me the opportunity to curate a deep house set that I really enjoyed spinning at the station. This time around, I pick back up on that route for a little then dive into some groovier house tracks I've been saving up for a summertime listen.

First live set via radio, and thanks to Darrell Stout for inviting me to the 
WRUW station for the opportunity, and for showing me around! Haven't played a deep house set in awhile, so it felt good to curate this one and get it out with some tracks I've been collecting over the year.

Alex Roob - Live on the Beat Matrix (WRUW 91.1FM) - 8-19-19

Since 2014, Roobski has formed a distinctive sound in the musical landscape that blends influences from house, techno, and UK Garage to create an infectious, upbeat sound that fuses tech-bass with foot-shuffling rhythms and groovy melodies. Based in the Raleigh, NC area, he began his musical journey experimenting with his sound at house parties using hand-me-down equipment and gaining inspiration from experiences at music festivals, shows, and listening to other talented artists in the scene. Over the years, he has collaborated with various artists and collectives, sharing his vision and passion for innovative music. His most recent endeavors include opening for Eli & Fur and keeping the music & wellness stream Groove Therapy ongoing as a resident host with success in curating a welcoming space for other artists and guests to share their talents as well.

When he's not behind the decks, Roobski likes to experiment and go outside of his comfort zone to further blur the lines between genres, constantly experimenting and blending sounds to expand his creative musical envelope.
Roobski’s approach to mixing is all about creating an immersive and inclusive experience. “For me, it’s all about having fun and getting people into a groove from the moment they tune in without realizing it...regardless of genre, tempo, or style.
