This remix track was initially recorded in January 2022 along with a music video and intended to be released earlier in the year.  When we lost Riky in February, releasing this felt disingenuous to me, at the time. 

In reflecting I've come to realise the importance of putting this out, to share the great impact the Riky had. He was almost like the cousin I rap about in the track, who "put me on to things that i had never seen".  He showed me and many kids that looked up to him what it meant to "say it with your chest!". I am learning to do that too and the first step into that threshold is sharing what inspired me.

I really needed to feel some stuff that mattered to make some stuff. Dawg, I’ve been feeling a lot and I’ve been making a lot. This is a new era. An era of identity formation and reclamation. New stuff soon. 🖖🏾

The bellows of ache from my heart birthed a force that did more than keep me afloat, they moved me through space and time. I started to break free from the hard coverings of Sad Boy Lex and found myself in awe of the motion, space and time. This is a new era for me. I now float through  the concrete streams, looking out and processing my surroundings. 

A song I offer as a glimpse to my observations. A voice that paves the cold streets in which we chant our pain and imperfections with pride.
