It has been dreary and grey for the last few weeks, sometimes driving me out of my mind, but sometimes making me feel perfectly content, nostalgic, and peaceful. I've been going back and diving into the records that made me want to write songs in the first place, and last night as the rain was beating down on my windshield I was brought back to the songs of Thanksgiving (band) and my favorite record (and vinyl posession) Welcome Nowhere. This is a cover of a song written by Adrian Orange and I hope you like it and are inspired to listen to the original.

I could not stop singing this song to myself these last few days. I've been a fan of Bonnie Raitt ever since I was a little girl. She is such a powerful woman and a bad-ass musician. Here is my take on "If I can't Make You Love Me."

I for some reason started to imagine what a bummer it is that Santa has to work on Christmas every year rather than curling up with his lady. This is a song about giving Santa a break. 

You don't have to be alone on Christmas

I wrote this song after the shootings at Parkland High School. It's about the frustrating lack of action and apathy from our current president to do anything that actually protects people. It's about me being scared for my friends, that are immigrants, that are trans, that are people of color, and feeling unsafe on a daily basis. It's about feeling numb to all the horror because it's all over the news all day and I hate feeling numb when so many people are in harm's way. It's about all of that confusion. I'm not sure what to do with this yet, but here it is on soundcloud.
