Take out a box of watercolor paint
Dip in the red and draw a heart
Mix in some blue to go on top of it
Now it is purple, and that's the start

What if you want to make it red again?
Try as you might it cannot be
Patting more red and red right over it
Won't mask the blue hue underneath

So now you all knew it but what the hell
I'll just tear a few pages, begin it again

I found the palette of my soul
Opened my sketchbook the first time
Took some of him and laid on it page one
Blended the colors I called mine

There were some rosy pinks and garden greens
But after a long time now I found
Adding too much to try and save what's there
Makes the whole painting change to brown

Maybe I want those pages back
Maybe they'll serve as a reference map
So I know what to do and who not to become
When to walk, when to run
I should watch what it shows

Bored, laying around
Nothing to do but lounge
Hands roaming around
