El Remolon reaches deep down into his bag of tricks for a global bass inspired journey through the jungle, calling on a cast of producers from around the world to remix his 5th studio album, Selva. 

On his 2014 album El Remolon took us on a journey through mystic Peruvian jungles and the Buenos Aires rat race, intent on connecting the listener with a cosmic cumbia visceral experience no matter the environment.  On it we heard Rhodes pianos, shamanic ritual chants and a whole lot of bass.  The record, heavy in collaborations, featured Buenos Aires hip hop/dancehall/cumbia starlet Miss Bolivia, Ali Gua Gua from the Kumbia Queers and the masked Dengue Dengue Dengue from Peru, to name a few.  This time around El Remolon calls on producers from all corners of the globe to give their signature touches to Selva.   

  Remixers from Australia, Belgium, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Spain and Germany lend their wares for a truly “global bass” affair.  The Ecuadorian Nicola Cruz, ZZK’s newest signee, ever so intricately strips down Lido Pimienta’s Vestido, whereas cumbia meets trap on Flashback from one of the rising producers of the Buenos Aires digital cumbia scene, Esmink.  Chancha Via Circuito lends his signature hypnotic drum patterns on Energia Natural and Barrio Lindo closes out the album with an introspective dream quest with Mariela Gerez’s Quechua lyrics floating in space on Poyeyu.

One of the musical finds of the past couple of years, Dutch pairing, Huminal, have risen the crest of a successful wave with a stellar collection of original and remix material. No better was this talent illustrated than with the July 2016 "We Dwell in the Past" original EP, the title track now receiving two world class remixes from Spanish and Chilean Proton Music debutants.

Dimas Carbajo needs little in the way of introduction to the dance music cognoscenti. Through his D-Formation alter-ego, Dimas has taken the underground scene by storm in both the world of DJ and production with over a quarter-of-a-century's experience to his name. Owner of 'Beatfreak Group' business alliance since the late 1990s, the D-Formation name has thus led Spain's assault on the dance industry with his influence extending far beyond its borders. Winner of the "Spanish DMC DJ Championship" aged 17, DJ appearances across the globe subsequently followed in such cosmopolitan venues as Womb (Tokyo), Space (Miami) and Ministry of Sound (London), alongside such stars as Marco Carola, Carl Cox and John Digweed. Furthermore, an illustrious production career has seen the D-Formation name allied to a plethora of high-profile imprints that include Suara, Yoshitoshi and Toolroom as well as a double-century for his own Beatfreak Recordings.

Making his debut on Proton Music, the D-Formation remix is a truly joyous affair. A crisp new rhythmic shell provides a delicious dance-floor underpinning as the melodic themes so central to Huminal's original are given a new workover, intelligently entwined with a raft of new production material from the D-Formation studio. The result is a highly prized interpretation that bristles with dynamic energy and soaring synth lines bringing an innate sense of skill and technique to proceedings.

Chilean artist, Rodrigo Gallardo, from the Santiago capital in central Chile, is an artist who has shot to prominence in 2016. With his work for the massively successful Sol Selectas label, Gallardo's twin appearances on the number one best-selling "Summer Sol" compilation saw him become a huge commercial success, thrusting him into the deep house limelight with a unique and innovative sound. Beginning his production journey in 2012, the "Bachiana Brasileira No. 5" EP for Aires Music was followed a year later by a remix for Copycow, before 2016 brought even greater success.

A welcome debut appearance on Proton Music now sees Rodrigo Gallardo create a sumptuous laid back groove that brings an entirely different character to Huminal's work. Remixing "We Dwell in the Past", a gradual evolution of the emotive melodic sequence so central to the original, gradually filters into listener consciousness, lilting enticingly in its new rhythmic pattern. Weaving in and out of the percussive cadence in perfect harmony, the resulting work is a piece of skill and unadulterated joy.

With two new remixes from D-Formation and Rodrigo Gallardo, Huminal's "We Dwell in the Past" still has a very bright future ahead.

In the year 1997, Nickodemus & Jay B met through friend & music fanatic Eddy Plenty. At the time, Nickodemus was DJ'ing at Organic Grooves & Giant Step parties & experimenting with sampling from his record collection from around the World. Jay B was writing music & experimenting with the latest in computer programming software. Their shared love for fat beats of soul, funk, trip hop, jazz from around the World was the common ground that made for a quick music making synergy. In the 1st year working together, they managed to make the following songs as well as a few remixes & unreleased beats that never made it off of the DAT recorder. We hope you enjoy these songs from the Brooklyn Beat Cave in 1997.

Anyone familiar with Mop Mop will already know that their refined style has already lend them a unique place somewhere between the worlds of jazz, funk, latin and the Italian Postmodern style allowed the band to achieve the international film business as part of Woody Allen's 'To Rome With Love' movie soundtrack. 
But with this latest LP 'Isle Of Magic', Mop Mop digs even deeper to bring us one of their most engaging and organic records yet. Mop Mop's fourth studio album has come together over the course of a couple of years where producer Andrea Benini has been searching for new directions with the band.
Collaborations in the album include Funk legend Fred Wesley, Trinidad-born poet/singer Anthony Joseph and Finnish-Egyptian vocalist Sara Sayed. Over fifteen musicians were involved during the production of the album including Andrea Benini’s co-arranger Alex Trebo on piano, Pasquale Mirra on vibraphone and
marimba, Guglielmo Pagnozzi on clarinette and flute, Johannes Schleiermacher (Bajka, Radio Citizen, Woima Collective) on baritone sax, Lorenzo Ternelli and Salvatore Lauriola on bass and Danilo Mineo on percussions - just to name a few.
'Isle Of Magic' contains 13 tracks of pure Voodoo Jazz, Caribbean flavours, Afro-
Funk, Exotic rhythms and Soul music. The album has been recorded between
Germany and Italy with the use of vintage analog equipment to achieve a sound
with all the “warm” qualities of vintage analog tape recordings; sessions have been recorded during the period March/August 2011. Isle Of Magic is an imaginary land populated by musicians who spend their time fishing, cooking, playing and practicing Voodoo rites at night. The whole album represents the soundtrack of this imaginary life.
