This piece deals with the question of tolerance in societies. The Soloist is representing a stranger, locked in his cultural imprints, facing a larger group (the orchestra), which is also sticking to its own traditions or peculiarities. There is almost nothing in common between both parties, except of the fact that almost the entire musical material derives from the Mozart Oboe concerto. Sections of original Mozart material become the unifying element and let peace and tolerance grow - until the burden of tolerance both groups have to carry on their shoulders becomes too heavy and forces the groups to fall apart...
