Liberation Riddim is the third release on Hundred Years and is a production from Reggae Roast heavyweight Adam Prescott, who is joined on the release by Cornel Campbell, Donovan Kingjay, Galak Spiritual & Papa B. The track bridges the gap between classic roots, dub from the echo chamber and driving modern steppas. The first vocal cut from the original Gorgon himself, Mr. Cornel Campbell blends Adam's tough original with Cornel's flawlessly sweet vocals to create 'Dem A Bawl', in which the driving deep bass line is perfectly accentuated by the flawless melodies and delays to provide us with an unmistakable and instantly recognisable take on modern roots at it's finest. Next cut see's Donovan Kingjay take to the booth for 'Statistic', an assured statement on the current social climate, providing a message of hope and unification, delivered powerfully in Donovan's unmistakable style. The final vocal version comes from Galak Spiritual entitled ‘Ancestors’, and is a tribute to his mixed blood, spreading a powerful message of love and acceptance. Rounding off the record is a powerful horns cut from Papa B, a saxophonist on his first instrumental outing since the anthemic 'Easton' by onlyjoe.

An exciting upcoming producer in the UK digital roots scene, Nottingham’s Adam Prescott has been burning since 2010 with original songs featuring renowned vocalists such as Daddy Freddy, Brother Culture, Dynamite MC, Charlie P & Tippa Irie. His tunes have been played and remixed by Scottish reggae champions Mungo’s Hi-fi, and to-date he has two original solo releases on plate on the Reggae Roast and Nice Up! labels that have garnered heavy radio and club support from A-listers including David Rodigan. Prescott’s debut on Liondub International, Technique, is a full six-track solo EP full of heavyweight rhythms and styles to spare. The title tune leads off and skanks out of the iron gates with hard drops, announcing its confidence in the sample that lends it its title. ‘The Eight Devils’ goes in heavier and more uptempo with broken rhythms, ominous stabs and droning synthesizers. Bringing in the old-school Far Eastern flavor, ‘A State of Mind’ equally references classic dubstep vibes and the foundation sound of Augustus Pablo. With its minor mode and heavy bass weight, ‘Pressure’ fulfills its promise of going into a different session and turns the second side of the EP back towards darker territory during ‘Moving in the Shadows’. It finishes with ‘Sentinel’, featuring a production cameo from new talent Phasix and ending things on a very futuristic reggae tip with implied techno touches. Weighing in with six hotter burners, Adam Prescott’s ‘Technique’ is sure to increase pressure on the floor for the Liondub International massive.

LNDB 020 3 - Adam Prescott - A State Of Mind [CLIP]

When asked to explain his thinking behind the naming of Technicolour, label founder Dean Bryce told us last year, "I didn’t want the label to be pigeonholed and that name really seemed to reflect that." Looking back over everything that Technicolour has released since its emergence from the Ninja Tune bosom in early 2013, you'd have to say the label has lived up to Bryce's hopes, charting a course through skewed pop music, experimental electronics and out-there house and techno. Recent additions seem to convey Technicolour's cachet right now with Hieroglyphic Being and Legowelt both committing to the cause.

Outside of his role overseeing Technicolour and handling A&R duties for Ninja Tune, Bryce also produces music under various iterations of the name Photomachine with his debut coming on Raffertie's now defunct Super label back in 2011. Right now Bryce is operating as Fotomachine with some material on the horizon and he's also been seen moonlighting as half of Ren & Stimpy with FaltyDL producer Drew Lustman. Their Flesch/Neo Geo 12" came out earlier this year through Lustman's own Blueberry label and saw them pay homage to the Tom and Jerry project Dego and Marc Clair were involved in prior to 4Hero.

Given what's been released on the label so far and what we have heard is on the way for Technicolour, it felt like a mix from Bryce would offer some insight into the sound of the label. What Bryce submitted turned out to be just under an hour's worth of dark sounds suited to headphone listening, including some Florian Kupfer material scheduled for release on Technicolour.
