This track might test the patience of listeners, as it is yet another iteration of the same idea. However, each version brings a new arrangement and consistently reaches a higher level of quality. The journey of refining this piece has taken me through many phases—some versions were more dynamic and hypnotic, others felt raw and unpolished. Yet, with each iteration, I moved closer to the quality I truly wish to share with you.

It is my deep respect for you, my listeners, that drives me to create a version that feels fresh, distinct, and genuinely good—one that reaches a more professional level. Ultimately, however, the true judgment belongs to the audience.

In an era where music can be generated with a single click, the effort I pour into this uneven battle feels even more valuable. Each step in this process teaches me something new, and my curiosity never fades. With each new recording, I embrace increasingly advanced and demanding sound mixing techniques, allowing me to refine my artistry and push the boundaries of quality. Because of that, I can release new recordings with confidence—whether they are fresh creations or improved versions of earlier ideas.

Downturn

Inspired by the gritstone 'Dark Peak' millstones left abandoned in the 1800s. Over 1,000 of these 2-3 ton stones were left behind when modern methods made them obsolete. Nowadays the quarry sites by gritstone 'edges' are favoured by walkers enjoying the open countryside, which for centuries witnessed the immense effort of cutting, shaping and hauling these massive loads.

Raindrops

We present another spontaneous collaboration of ours, track 11 in the "Atmosphere" album in progress. Inspired by an initial composition by Roberto B (@2roberto2), mixed and recorded (in MAGIX) on 24 June 2025, "Ballad 26", I composed, mixed and recorded (in GarageBand iOS, using touch screen to play on virtual instruments, and Logic Pro, to arrange, mix and record) the subsequent composition and the extended collaborative version on 25 June 2025. We hope you'll enjoy it.

The artwork cover for the album and all tracks in it uses a painting by Roberto B of 2 November 2024 annotated by Alex M in Mac OS Preview on 17 November 2024 - in coordination and agreement with Roberto B.

Adishatz monde !

On est bien fiers avec Thomas d'avoir réalisé cette bande son originale du documentaire "Montanhòus", documentaire réalisé par Alexandre Cartigny, produit par Saison Cinq (merci Emmanuelle Glemet !) et diffusé sur Òc Tele en septembre 2025.

"Montanhòus" suit les traces de deux accompagnateurs en montagne, David Bordes et Pierre Vidal, deux passionnés de leur territoire, la Vallée d'Ossau et le Béarn, et qui ont décidé de vivre sur et de leur territoire. Alexandre Cartigny les suit sur une saison et les filme dans leur quotidien livrant avec beaucoup de poésie et d'humanité un portrait à la fois juste et touchant des deux hommes : leur rapport au territoire et à la langue occitane du Béarn qu'ils pratiquent quotidiennement, leur activité, le dérèglement climatique, leur rapport à la tradition...

Les images sont belles, le documentaire bien pensé et nous avons donc travaillé musicalement avec Thomas à appuyer le propos, prenant parfois la parole et des fois assurant juste un soutien. Nous avons choisi d'utiliser un instrumentarium très acoustique et relativement épuré : nous vouions rester bruts et ancrés au territoire en mettant le tambourin à cordes, les voix et la flûte du Béarn en avant. Et évidemment, on a pris le parti de coller le plus possible à l'esprit poétique, parfois drôle et aussi profond des deux compères mais aussi des paysages magnifiques qu'ils arpentent avec leur belle énergie !

I have always admired music, of diverse styles. Like most of us, I have tried learning to play a few instruments at a basic level in my teenage. But it is only now, in the 21st century, that modern software allows anyone to fool around being the composer, the designer of a whole composition, simpler or more complex, organising together the parts of the various instruments - and to hear the results of this experimentation or inspiration instantly! That is how I have recently begun enjoying the distraction of attempts at composing during my leisure, discovering an amazing dimension of life, and art, perhaps the most intangible, heightening and hypnotising one, and the closest to the soul...
