Roberto B (@user-55822457) and I are glad to present our 5th collaborative track, "Double Reflection V", in our album in progress under the title "Double Reflections", which we intend to complete in the remaining months of the current year 2021. We hope you'll enjoy this 5th composition of ours over the past 5 days and nights (following the other 4 tracks in the album)!

The artwork cover, that will also be used for our album in progress and all its constituent tracks, is our own, cropped and annotated by Alex M (in Mac OS Preview) on 29 April 2021.

Created in collaboration on 29 April 2021 (initial mix and recording in MAGIX by Roberto B), 2-3 May (subsequent additions, mix and recording by Alex M in GarageBand and Logic Pro) and 3 May 2021 (final mix and recording in Logic Pro by Alex M), and posted on SC on 3 May 2021 (by Alex M).

Thank you so much for this 5th beautiful collaboration, Roberto, in only 5 days/nights! This was a crazy period of spontaneous and inspired composing of ours!

Salvador Dalí (May 11, 1904 - January 23, 1989) was a Spanish surrealist artist renowned for his technical skill, precise draftsmanship, and the striking and bizarre images in his work. Born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain, Dalí received his formal education in fine arts in Madrid. Influenced by Impressionism and the Renaissance masters from a young age he became increasingly attracted to Cubism and avant-garde movements. He moved closer to Surrealism in the late 1920s and joined the Surrealist group in 1929, soon becoming one of its leading exponents. His best-known work, “The Persistence of Memory” was completed in August 1931, and is one of the most famous Surrealist paintings.  “The Persistence of Memory” epitomizes Dalí's theory of "softness" and "hardness", which was central to his thinking at the time. As one art historian wrote: "The soft watches are an unconscious symbol of the relativity of space and time, a Surrealist meditation on the collapse of our notions of a fixed cosmic order". This interpretation suggests that Dalí was incorporating an understanding of the world introduced by Albert Einstein's theory of relativity.  In August 1929, Dalí met his lifelong muse and future wife Gala, who was a Russian immigrant ten years his senior.  Dalí and Gala lived in France throughout the Spanish Civil War (1936 to 1939) before leaving for the United States in 1940 where he achieved commercial success. He returned to Spain in 1948 where he developed his "nuclear mysticism" style, based on his interest in classicism, mysticism, and recent scientific developments. Dalí's artistic repertoire included painting, graphic arts, film, sculpture, design and photography, at times in collaboration with other artists. He also wrote fiction, poetry, autobiography, essays and criticism. Major themes in his work include dreams, the subconscious, sexuality, religion, science and his closest personal relationships. His eccentric and ostentatious public behavior often drew more attention than his artwork. In 1968, Dalí bought a castle in Púbol for Gala, and from 1971 she would retreat there for weeks at a time, Dalí having agreed not to visit without her written permission. His fears of abandonment and estrangement from his longtime artistic muse, Gala, contributed to depression and failing health. In 1980, at the age of 76, Dalí's health deteriorated sharply and he was treated for depression, drug addiction, and Parkinson-like symptoms, including a severe tremor in his right arm. Dali was obsessed with death. Feeling that any every moment he needed to be alive. At the end of his life, he is quoted as saying he was eccentric because he needed to show that he was alive as versus his brother who died very young and his family always referred to him as his brother. On the morning of January 23, 1989, Dalí died of cardiac arrest at the age of 84. He is buried in the crypt below the stage of his Theatre- Museum in Figueres.

Patrick or DjArtw2001 (@djartw2007) mixed in MAGIX on 1 March 2024 a part composed by Dan or DAN-DT (@Dan-T-3), originally back in 2017 under the title of "Turmoil", with a part composed by Alex M on 6 August 2021, and included in his collaboration "Mad Bad World" (https://soundcloud.com/alexander-mihailov-96713983/mad-bad-world-roberto-b-alex-m), and a collaboration of 2020 of Patrick with Alain Guerin (https://soundcloud.com/user-233987240 ) under the title "Il faut en parler" with parts, effects, arrangements and transitions composed and mixed by DjArtw2001 recently. We sincerely thank Alain Guerin for the lyrics and vocals in Patrick's part. We hope you'll like this new collaboration, posted on SC on 11 March 2024 (by Alex M).

The composition was inspired by the poem "Crossing the Water" by the American poet Sylvia Plath (1932-1963).

Crossing the Water

Black lake, black boat, two black, cut-paper people.
Where do the black trees go that drink here?
Their shadows must cover Canada.

A little light is filtering from the water flowers.
Their leaves do not wish us to hurry:
They are round and flat and full of dark advice.

Cold worlds shake from the oar.
The spirit of blackness is in us, it is in the fishes.
A snag is lifting a valedictory, pale hand;

Stars open among the lilies.
Are you not blinded by such expressionless sirens?
This is the silence of astounded souls.

He surprised me pleasantly by mixing my instrumental composition "Stay with Me" of 3-4-5 March 2024 and posted here on SC on 7 March 2024 (https://soundcloud.com/alexander-mihailov-96713983/stay-with-me) with added synthesisers and arrangements by Dan on 22 March 2024 and incorporating as well vocal samples with the beautiful voice of Laura, with final mix by DAN-DT on 10 April 2024. We hope that you will enjoy this sad and dreamy song.

What Have You Done? - Alex M & DAN-DT featuring Laura

I have always admired music, of diverse styles. Like most of us, I have tried learning to play a few instruments at a basic level in my teenage. But it is only now, in the 21st century, that modern software allows anyone to fool around being the composer, the designer of a whole composition, simpler or more complex, organising together the parts of the various instruments - and to hear the results of this experimentation or inspiration instantly! That is how I have recently begun enjoying the distraction of attempts at composing during my leisure, discovering an amazing dimension of life, and art, perhaps the most intangible, heightening and hypnotising one, and the closest to the soul... (21 August 2017) ... Forgot to mention: music is for sharing - that's why we are all here! (4 September 2017)
