Billy Taylor is a traditional folk song about a young sailor set to wed his sweetheart. Alas, his fair lady's  father isn't too happy about the match and sends him back to sea. As with many trad folk songs, the story doesn't end 'Happily ever after'.

Billy Taylor was a sailor, he was courtin' a fair lady 
Instead of Billy gettin' married, he was forced untae the sea 
But his bride soon followed after under the name of Richard Carr 
Snow-white fingers, long and slender, covered ower wi' pitch and tar

Multi Instrumentalist including, Guitar, mandolin, Concertina, Melodeon but mainly Fiddle and a bit of singing. I have played for a number of folk groups and singer songwriters on albums and gigs. I currently play fiddle and sing with Norfolk-based singing group The Sheringham Shantymen.
