The Analog Session: Seven textures of sound – Digital album – total time 57'

Alexander Robotnick/ Ludus Pinsky's fifth album under the name of “The Analog Session” is quite different from the previous three. On the one hand the duo seems to be back to the electronic minimalism of its first album, on the other it shows more rigor  in reducing the  editing of tracks  and avoiding the long time cuts of their previous works. In a nutshell  they didn't work  on a structure. So the   7 tracks of the album , no doubt fairly long but totally enjoyable , very clearly  express the two artists’ attitude to improvisation.
Their music can be defined as traditional analog electronic , based on arpeggios, short sequences of notes , echoes, modulation on filters and melodic improvisation. Nothing new, therefore,  but  a deep musical sensitivity  capable of exploiting  the amazing  modulation possibilities of their equipment  - which is always played and never just programmed.
Most tracks are based on arpeggios, sometimes written sometimes improvised, which in turn evolve into an ever changing music background as the track proceeds. The two artists improvise melodies and bass lines upon it. 
The drum parts , that in some cases  only make their appearance at mid-track , are kept intentionally minimal  as they are not meant to  play any big role in the track but simply work as a kind of  metronome  in 4/4  that supports arpeggios and  chord riffs , often in 5/4 and 6/8 . It’s also noteworthy that  each track is characterized by  a different modal scale, often Phrygian or Dorian but also Mixolydian.
The  two instruments  used to produce this album are an SH101 heavily modified by Ludus and a Poly 800 where hardly anything of the original synth is left but its body. The choice of working with  two instruments only (a monophonic and a polyphonic one) allowed the duo to produce a compact and consistent sound that keeps flowing all along the album  recalling the main characteristic  of  their first work "N5 from Outer Space".

In “ The Lure of Light”  chords like sudden flashes of light burst into an  Acid base in Eb Major.
In “Dona 22 “ onto a dark rhythmic flow crossed by different bass lines suddenly comes  an epic melody.
Approaching the end of the track , Donatella’s voice - Robotnick’s partner - recites a poem she  composed on the 22nd anniversary of their sentimental relationship.

“In March 2023 I received a call from a club in Pisa ,Cantiere San Bernardo. They asked me whether I could play live with Stefano “Cocco” Cantini  on the occasion of a special event dedicated to Giovanotti Mondani Meccanici.
I called him and he answered enthusiastically.  Shortly before the concert we rehearsed at the Follonica Music School  which he directs.
He improvised with me on the bases of my live.
We liked our rehearsal and a few days later,  on June 2nd 2023,  we played in Pisa with much success.
So came the idea of doing something together. We decided to produce an EP featuring 3 tracks.On some of Robotnick's bases Stefano created an harmonic texture to improvise on. I mainly took care of the arrangement and the production. But what we play is the result of improvisation , with hardly any editing. 
It's amazing how we managed to work together so smoothly after so many years, as if we had never stopped”.

We called this project “Robocok”.
They are modal tracks with a techno approch and harmonically open. Almost a provocation to the staticity of contemporary dance . On “Francok” and “ Frigiocok” Stefano plays soprano sax whilst on “Afrocok” he plays alto.
Guglielmo Bottin took the task of making the “inevitable” remix . He picked Francok and skilfully turned it into a pure drums and piano groove. Just for the dancefloor.

2024 08 DJ-Set

The second lander and rover mission *Chandrayaan-3*successfully landed on the Moon on 23 August 2023, making India the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft in the lunar south pole region, and the fourth country to soft land on the Moon after the Soviet Union, the United States and China.

It was a crucial turnpoint marking the end of Western supremacy. This compilation intends to be a ( somewhat delayed) celebration of the beginning of a multipolar world where the precious variety of world cultures is not levelled by globalisation.

It’s Techno and Tech house with the typical features of this music but also suggesting a special feeling and introducing an Indian touch perceivable throughout almost all the tracks in the compilation.

Robotnick's Archives:
Active on the music scene for about 30 years, Alexander
Robotnick has produced an impressive amount of music.
Starting with ¿Avida¿ the first band he put together
,whose early 80s unreleased tracks have been recently
published by Creme Organization) to the latest digital
releases by his label ¿Hot Elphant Music¿.
Being a musicaholic , Robotnick has been stacking a
huge amount of supports: tapes, floppy disks, dats,
CD-roms, hard-disks . Last year, as he turned 60, he
decided to put some order into his archives , getting rid of
much of them but saving some projects that hadn¿t got
to the stage of being released but contained some
interesting ideas that he deemed worth developing and
completing. This is how the idea of Robotnick¿s Archives
came about.
Starting from December 2011, every mont h Elephant
Muisc is releasing a digital EP containing from 3 to 5
tracks , under the title ¿Robotnick¿s Archives¿. It¿s a
production that embraces different styles, from disco to
techno, as the author never identified with a given
genre for good. In some cases these tracks are actually
re-works, in other cases they are true remixes. With a
better equipped and more professional home-studio
(A.R. recently moved from his countryside hideout to an
urban bunker..) and thanks to the collaboration of
Tommaso Bianchi , an extremely talented
sound-engineer, who¿s been recently mastering A.R,¿s
tracks , Robotnick is convinced that , lost in the darkest
corners of his studio, there are indeed some forgotten
gems worh rescueing and publishing.

April 2018 DJ Mix

Soundtrack of the homonymous video-installation produced in September '86 for the "Arte degli Ambienti" Festival in Pantelleria. Later it was staged also in Firenze (October '86), Perugia (April '87) and finally in Palermo (June '87, part of the collective exhibition "Per amor del Cielo" at the Modern Art Gallery).
The installation is a ever-changing landscape of memories dedicated: 
"...to the black island, where a beloved shipwrecked friend, after having suffered for long time has been turned into a fish”.

The theme of the work is the shipwreck in all of its allegorical meanings. Mixing music, electronic images, voices, scenographic materials, GMM re-proposes the poetic reconstruction of a seascape populated by fishermen, castaways, wrecks, hallucinated backgrounds.

Giovanotti Mondani Meccanici - Movimenti Sul Fondo - Part 1

1 - I love my house (127 bpm)
One more TB303 based track. Something between
Acid-house and Deep-house.
The original recording dates back to 1995. The bass line
has been recently remade using the real TB303, because
at that time Robotnick used to play mostly digital gear.
2 - Submarine (130 bpm)
It's a kind of Ambient Break-beat. It was originally
composed for a soundtrack in the early 90s. Robotnick
had no9thing but the midi file. All the sounds were
produced last year.
3 - Disco Acha (128 bpm)
This track is quite recent as it dates back to 2008. It
represents Robotnick's renewed interest in Disco music.
Philadelphia strings give "disco flavour" to an electro-bass
groove. The title means nothing . It's a kind of " exercise in
style" but may turn useful for clubs.
4 - Minore Terzo (Electric Prince rmx) 128 bpm
Producers Lia Organa and Electric Prince met in 2006 in
a recording studio. Their passion for music and their
similar influences and style brought them together to
create the project Lia Organa & Electric Prince (LOEP).
Since then they have been producing music together.

Cement, one of the  best friends of the modern era is showing its limits.
Do you remember the fantastic architecture portrayed by  comics in the 60s, with cities raising to amazing heights , overhanging bridges connecting towers....Well, forget it.
Cement doesn't seem to be reliable in the long run. What a shame, it was such a beautiful dream, a dream called cement.
Alexander Robotnick & Ludus Pinsky once again together with their  Italcimenti project introduce  this EP containing 4 tracks:

1 - A Dream Called Cement
2 - Suspended City
3 - Step by Step
4 - Unavoidable Crash

It's a kind of Post-Italo stuff. 
1 In "A Dream Called Cement" an Italo sequence-riff challenges a suspended pad: it's like opposing  the appeal of cement to the entropy of time.
2 "Suspended City" is a tribute to our imagination. Maybe  progress has slowed down a bit..;) But we still keep those  dreams firmly  in our mind.
3 "Step by Step" is built around a fragment of a dialogue: "Everything 's gonna be all right" - "Oh...I know you) It points to some responsibilities or at least carelessness whose consequences are emerging today.
4 In "Unavoidable Crash"a very fast arpeggio draws the fragments of instability produced by an unstable planet. Chords spring out  suddenly, acting like an alarm and creating tension until the groove is back and  the dream goes on.
