The past, the future? None of this is "present", it is all an illusion. We, or some of us base the present from our past, even being captured by it. Somehow, the future, although it doesn't even exist takes shape on our own thoughts, of what ifs? When in fact the only thing that we know that we don't know is that... the only variable, or variables are that the future is now. the present is erased. Or so we hope?
