Summer 2020 Treck

I remember fondly hearing David’s music for the first time. His beautiful haunting vocals and melodies instantly hooked me. I went down a rabbit hole through David’s gorgeous discography. 

His compositions are cinematic, stripped down, cohesive stories that touch our basic emotions. 

When I discovered ‘The World Retreats’ I knew I had to try and do my own club version. I bought the track and immediately started working on it. I was so inspired then that eventually the lead for ‘Her Perfect Sky’ came out of one of the first ideas for this remix.

Eventually I finished the first version and sent it to David on SoundCloud straight away. Without his permission I had taken the liberty to remix one of his own compositions and I was not sure how he would respond to that. 

Thankfully he did like the remix and we kept in touch ever since, that was in 2018.

In 2019 ‘The World Retreats’ is debuting on the highly praised Netflix show show ‘Dark’, David and I aimed to release this remix for free on SoundCloud as a way thank the audiences of both the music and the show and to share our stories with all of you. SoundCloud is where our first connection happened so it made sense for us to come full circle and give it away for free on this platform.

Originally part of their April 2018 Particles EP, Dimuth K, A-Jay and Shannon Davin brought together their combined talents from the island nation of Sri Lanka to produce a twin-track release of impressive proportions. Now, Yin and Yang reprise one of those tracks, as "Horus" receives new remixes from Argentinean and fellow Sri Lankan stars.

Operating out his Colombo home, Subandrio Sinhawansa has forged a strong and carefully constructed career path that has seen him become "Middle East DJ of the Year" on multiple occasions through his ability to "paint a masterpiece every night with energy and synergy." Contemporaneously pursuing a production career, the Sri Lankan star has found his work allied to an array of major underground labels that include Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital, Matan Caspi and Stan Kolev's Outta Limits and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat. With over a double century of production credits to his name, Subandrio returns to Yin after May 2016's remix of Nicholas Van Orton, taking a typically intelligent approach to his remix of "Horus."

Given percussive urgency through 16th note hi-hat pattern and immaculately placed woodblock, a grooved bassline and heavy beat builds energy while sumptuously textured pads gently reveal themselves. Retaining the essence of the original, a glorious arpeggio opens up in the breakdown before rhythm and bass hold court once more in the third movement to dramatic effect.

From central Argentina on the banks of the Quinto River, Fabri Lopez has found himself with almost a century of production credits to his name since a May 2014 debut for DOD Rekords. From his Villa Mercedes home, Lopez has performed regularly in clubs and bars across his hometown before moving into a successful production career. Finding his music on such blue-chip imprints as Balkan Connection, 3rd Avenue and Nicholas Van Orton's Balkan Connection South America, he has been supported by Nick Warren, Guy J and Argentinean superstar Hernan Cattaneo.

Making his Yang debut, the Fabri Lopez remix is characterized by a powerful kick and immaculately grooved bassline. Building in hypnotic fashion, a fizzing percussive top-line provides dynamic energy while smooth vocal phrasing meanders across the eight-minute piece. Full of dancefloor vibrancy, melodic elements from the "Horus" original filter gently into sonic range before a chorus of snare roll and white-noise power signals a return to the dense rhythmic picture.

'Galestian debuts on Manual Music after his successful releases on Perfecto, Perspectives and Click Records to name a few. L'Amour is a sensual yet intense track that borders between the melodic, progressive and deep house genres. Next to the beautiful original it comes in remix versions by a couple of infamous Dutch producers: Alex O'Rion and Formel.
