Alex is from Seattle, Washington, and is studying jazz voice at UNC, singing in Vocal Lab under the direction of Kerry Marsh. She spent her childhood singing and accompanying herself on piano, but enjoys singing jazz more than anything. In 2018, she won the Kobe Jazz Queen contest, and flew to Japan to perform in the Kobe International Jazz Festival. She enjoys writing vocalese (lyrics to existing instrumental jazz solos), and attaching emotion to the songs she sings and improvises on.
