Another song I did for Persaeus.  I feel like this mix is a little more "musical" than the last, everything sounds more focused and controlled.  Drums are Metal Foundry, Axe FX for guitars and bass.

Slightly tweaked mix but did more work on the master.  Got this great new plug in from Airwindows called "NC 17".  Definitely vastly brought up the volume and focused the mix more.

Old song I wrote for a side project in 2008 called "Ruin", I was bored so I remixed/remastered the entire song.  Guitars are still the original POD tracks, thinking about re-tracking them with the Axe FX. Drums are Metal Foundry with the Kick and Snare replaced with Slate samples.

Section 8 (New Mix 2011)

I got bored of writing metal so I decided to try my hand at writing a radio rock riff and it turned out pretty sick! It's in E standard but I got a pretty massive guitar tone from the Axe FX. Guitars are the JCM900 amp and JCM2000 cab with the Royer 121 mic on the Axe FX. Used my EC-1000 6 string with a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge. Toms and Cymbals are Superior Drummer, Kick and Snare are Slate. I named it "Berlin" because it reminds me of something the band Anberlin would write hahaha.

Quick clip for an idea I had.  Guitars are Axe FX, 5150 Sim - V30 Cab - R121 mic, Bass is a SansAmp Bass Driver DI direct in with an Ampeg 8x10 impulse,  Drums are SD2 Avatar with the kick replaced with Slate.

New track I produced for my buds in Persaeus.   Definitely the best song/mix/master I have done for them so far.  Guitars are Axe FX, Bass is SansAmp Bass Driver pedal, Drums are SD 2.0 Avatar with a Slate replaced kick.

Messing around with a new drum mix, also my first time using Trilian and Omnisphere.  On tour right now so excuse the guitars, they are POD XT instead of my Axe FX.

Loving Trilian though, the bass is so deep and clear and sounds very realistic!


Wah Djunt Djunt

So I heard about "Match EQing" the other day and it really intrigued me (if you don't know what I'm talking about check out this thread:  http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/production-tips/710368-yt-match-eq-ir-tutorial.html).  I tried out matching the intro guitar to Stengah by Meshuggah on the album Nothing.  As you can hear it came out pretty damn good.  There are VERY small differences tonally, but to the untrained ear they would never hear the difference, and honestly it's probably not the tone so much as playing technique.  I'll let you decide which take is mine and which is from the CD ;). Meshuggah Nothing Match EQ Tone Test

Just a little diddy I whipped up to demo the new Toontrack guitar sim "Metal Gods".

All guitars and bass are from Metal Gods software and the Mastering came from Toontrack's EZMix Mastering suite.

Guitars are the Koloss sim and the bass is the "Koloss bass hi" for the high end and "Frederik bass clean" for the low end.

Drums are Toontrack's Superior Drummer for snare and toms, Metal Foundry cymbals, and Slate kick.

An old song I wrote a while back entitled "8 string groove", re-recorded with the SCT-607B.  Kemper Profiling Amp for Guitars (5150 III + Mesa Cab profile), ESP Vintage 4 for Bass using Metal and Bass Amp Room for tones.  Superior Drummer Avatar kit for toms and snare, Metal Foundry for Cymbals, and Slate for the kick.

This is my first try at producing a real band.  They are my friends from back home called "Persaeus".  The drums are still programmed but I handled all of the tracking, mixing, and mastering.
