01 Lucid Eros

This mix is a love letter for my favorite Latin American musician, Gustavo Cerati. His influence in my life is outsized and hard to hold in words. His lyrics, his voice, and his guitar playing sustained me during deep, strange, transformative days while I was living in Mexico and Chile. This mix is made for a dinner party. We're gathered in my friend Irene's apartment in downtown Santiago. We're dancing after eating a huge delicious meal. There are 20 or 30 of us, old friends who've danced together many times. This is an intimate dance. We love one another. We feel so good together. And we have all been accompanied by Gustavo Cerati through all kinds of times. So some of the songs are sweet nods to our memories.

Night Creatures: Sonic Ode To An Owl

CIANA is the alias of Alexandria Giardino, a sound artist, cultural fomenter, and community builder. CIANA’s dance floors are an unexpected union of the Divine Feminine, the furtive tango hall, and wild elemental forces. Imagine if Eryka Badu, Stevie Nicks, the Gotan Project, and Nora en Pure had a DJ baby: that would be CIANA.  
 
For the past two decades, CIANA has managed a performance-art space in Mexico City, translated love poetry in Santiago, Chile, written award-winning children’s books, co-created a popular annual Italian-English poetry & music event in San Francisco, evangelized a radical form of Tibetan meditation, and taught creative writing. Then, one night in 2022, CIANA dreamt she was spinning records, serving medicinal smoothies, and reigning over a raucous dance party, where no one bothered with a bra or shoes. CIANA woke up, got in contact with Tasha Blank’s Powerhouse DJ School, and started making that dream go live.
