My goal was to capture the deep spirit of the music and environment that we had been living in for the past two days and to give each musician the freedom to express their voice in an improvised context.  Having presented an abstract blueprint for the improvisation, we hit record and in the end realized an impressionistic painting full of vivid beauty, darkness, and calm.” - Orechin

Seasonal Beings - Alexei Orechin

1992 Ambient was composed over a four month period from September 2019 to January 2020 for chamber orchestra & electronics.  The music is a therapeutic experiment in slowly melting sound and colour; representing the acculturation and restructuring of oneself through emigrating from Russia to Canada in the year 1992.
