As seeds, budding plants, shrubs and bears awaken from the depths of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring comes, we're delighted to finally Release a New Track for Spring of 2023! 😎  
   
We call it 'Awakening'. 

And thank goodness that as usual, the fingers of Tim Elliot are on his Telecaster and mine on the ancient Upright Grand Piano .

and together, they work their magic as we continue to explore the sonic landscape together through Improvisation.

Of course this can only happen within a space of Deep Listening.  A place Musicians can go in their totally individual inimitable ways.                      
                                                                                                                               
In our case, we almost immediately found ourselves being 'Led' into a Tonal Awakening....
Subtle grooves that were an outer manifestation of the Joy we were experiencing as we explored the spaces in between the notes.  😊  

Of course, the very best kind of Awakening is to one's own inimitable Truth, no matter the noise and apparent confusion all around. And sure... there's all kinds of negativity and nonsense in this ol world, but who needs to Awaken to that? It's more than obvious!
 
Far better to explore and express one's unique Creativity! To share the Love one feels for whatever they're passionate about, through their Music! 😉

Sometimes our hearts look to someone who is not so easy a fit, someone who is not physically near or isn’t embraced by friends and family, or some such tabu. We wrestle with what doesn’t come easy yet seems so right and natural. In the end the heart should always win. This original song is another one of my raw “live” iPhone recordings with an added vocal harmony. Bare bones, just like the sentiment.

Nero's Fiddle

To celebrate 2000, I took a year off to write songs, novels, plays, and stories - and I've been doing that since. At the end of my first year, I won first prize in the USA Songwriting Contest in the Lyric Category for 'Drum Machines and Beauty Queens.' This led to co-writing songs with many excellent musicians, including those represented in songs posted here. 

More recently, I was one of seven finalists in the Crisis Lyric Category of the 2021 UK Songwriting Contest for 'Lockdown Blues,' and one of nine nominees in the 2021 International Song Awards with 'Didn't the River Know' and 'Blue and Gold.'

For the past two years, I've been collaborating with many talented musicians on Kompoz. I release many of these songs here and compile the best into albums released under Captain Stormfield's Trip on Spotify and other platforms (see links below).
